So does this mean Taylor Kitsch's career is officially over? Maybe he should have picked a different stage name. It sadly probably does mean he won't be having a lead role in anything not an indie film for a few years, if ever. He might get lucky and find supporting roles and possibly character roles, though. Which is a damn shame, because his films bombing isn't really his fault. John Carter(I finally saw it) was f***ing AMAZING, the problem is Disney bungled the marketing of that film BADLY, dear god have I never seen a marketing for a film handled so damn badly. Calling it John Carter was probably the worst mistake they could've done, too. It should've been A Princess of Mars. I know, I know, that fear in Hollywood of attaching Mars to a film's name, because virtually all films with Mars in its title have bombed. But still, that is better than just simply John Carter...... Battleship.....ok that film sucked ass, but it was also released after The Avengers. That isn't his fault it bombed at f***ing all. Everyone was too busy seeing The Avengers for their first, second, or even third, time that weekend. Savages......same issue with Battleship, really, too much audience division. Most people are too busy seeing Spider-Man, Ted, and Brave, that and I honestly haven't seen a single damn ad for Savages. Really the only one of his films this year that wasn't killed because of divided audiences was John Carter, and as I said, Disney mismarketed that film to hell and back. So if Kitsch's career as a lead really is dead for now, he got f***ed over big time, imo. Actually John Carter was released one week after The Lorax, one of the biggest hits so far this year. Plus, 21 Jump Street (another hit) came out the next week and Hunger Games put the nail in the coffin the week after that. So, even John Carter was doomed with competition.

See, I forgot it came out around those films. I thought it was before all of them. So yeah, bungled marketing combined with being released around hits(granted, 21 Jump Street was a surprise hit). If anything, it isn't that Taylor Kitsch is box office poison, rather, he's just quite possibly the most unlucky actor this year.

1.) Spider-Man $65M ($140M for the holiday; $230M budget) 2.) Ted $32.5M ($120.2M total off a $50M budget) 3.) Brave $20.1M ($174.5M total off a $185M budget) 4.) Savages $16.1M ($45M budget) 5.) Magic Mike $15.6M ($72M total off a $7M budget) Katy Perry: Part of Me meanwhile bombed at $7.1M even though the budget is at $12M so it should break even. Then again, bet this is the last we see of the 3D concert films for a while. Surprised to see Savages debut at least decently, with it's mixed reviews and mixed projections for how it was gonna do. It's not going to do anything so perhaps this is still the end for Taylor Kitsch for now, but there's still a possibility that Benicio Del Toro gets a Best Supporting Actor nod, because I hear he's fantastic in this. Ted looks to be a success, and I wouldn't be surprised to see FOX greenlight the Family Guy movie soon. Magic Mike is also a success since it was only made for $7M. Love him or hate him, Channing Tatum has made bank this year. Next week is the calm before the storm. Ice Age should get the easy win, and then...somebody rises.

I love that we live in a world where "Peter Griffin the Stuffed Bear" can gross $100 million.

I could go and get a totally unecessary colonoscopy, too. Which would probably roughly simulate the experience.
Besides, if I want to watch something and not laugh, Family Guy is on for like 3 hours a day.

SERIOUSLY doubt it'll break Avengers but it'll come close. Won't be shocked, but I don't see it. Sure it has more theaters, but it also has 40 minutes added, which is a ton, not to mention no 3D.
Going with $190 on this one. I'll even give it the opening day and single-day records, but no 3-day. As good as the movie might be, it won't have the staying power that the Avengers had.

Strange, as I heard some good things about The Watch. It will probably be left in the dust cause of DAT BAT.
Step Up 4, though? WEAPONIZED. DANCING.
Nuff Said.

1.) The Dark Knight Rises ($64,075,000; 60.2% drop) 2.) Ice Age: Continental Drift ($13,300,000; 34.9% drop) 3.) The Watch ($13,000,000; NEW) 4.) Step Up: Revolution ($11,800,000; NEW) 5.) Ted ($7,353,000; 26.6% drop)
TDKR has a 10-day total of $289,086,000, which is the third highest 10-day gross ever (behind it's predecessor and the Avengers). It won't gross $500M though. Definitely in the high 400's mark, but I just don't see it.
Ice Age 4 has grossed $115M, but counter that with it's MASSIVE international take (over half a billion I believe) and yep...looks like a fifth one is definitely in the works in the future.
Ted is going to gross $200M by next week, which is pretty insane. Like I said, FOX is pretty nuts that they haven't greenlighted the Family Guy movie for Seth now. Or at least a sequel talk for Ted, which makes little sense, but I haven't seen the movie, so...
Next week, the Total Recall remake comes out. But you have to wonder if it has enough power to make more money than...Diary of a Wimpy Kid 3: Dog Days. Because that...that's a juggernaut there.

I'm so happy the watch bombed. My friend and I were discussing it last night hoping it wouldn't do well. Glad to see it tanked.

Also, Magic Mike crossed the $100M mark, making it the THIRD movie that Channing Tatum has done this year to cross that mark. Just think if G.I. Joe came out this year, he would've had four.
When the hell is the last time that has happened?

When the hell is the last time that has happened? Channing Tatum is the reverse Taylor Kitsch! It is weird, Tatum has seriously had the exact opposite year of Kitsch. Whereas most of Kitsch's films this year were given major marketing pushes and were giant bombs, Tatum's have been kind of under pushed, marketing wise, but have cleaned house at the box office. Also helps that Tatum's films haven't had the massive budgets of Kitsch's films.

I'm so happy the watch bombed. I am to. It looks like it's the same exact movie as 21 Jump Street honestly.
