I'm so happy the watch bombed. I'm sorry, but it has 3 actors in it that I hate the most in holywood. I just don't understand how Jonah Hill keeps getting work.

Geez slow down on the watch... I thought it was hilarious. Good, stupid fun. What really disgusts me is people complaining about Stiller, Vaughn, etc. doing the same schtick they usually do. So f***ing what? That's why they're movie stars, people pay to see Ben Stiller be Ben Stiller, they pay to see Vince Vaughn be Vince Vaughn. You hire movie stars to do the things that made them successful, what, you want Vince Vaughn to be mopey and melancholy, no, you don't. I'd rather watch guys like that do the same thing over and over than watch crap like Project X and Chronicle. I go to the movies to see movie stars, damn it.

Well obviously they're not paying to see these 'stars'. They are just not funny, and they've been unfunny for a very long time. It seems people are starting to catch on.

Or maybe they see talented comedians and expect that once in a while they take on a different persona or character. When you show less variation in your character output than Channing Tatum, you are ripe for complaint. I mean this mainly on Vaughn and Hill. Stiller at least has villain mode and self parody mode to go along with his standard persona. Vaughn meanwhile is always the frat man and hill is always the obnoxious fat kid.

They must have a niche audience that keeps people coming. I was mostly worried that this would be another Stiller film where all the bad things just keep happening to him in a quirky un-funny way. It started out that way but once the film got into it's rhythm, it turned into one of those 'ad lib' comedies where the story really doesn't matter anymore and they seem to try to make each scene as funny as possible. IMO, if you came to this movie looking for a riveting story or oscar contender, you've made a mistake from the get go....

I think Heartbreak Kid was the end of Stiller as the unlucky put upon schmuck, even in Little Fockers, the whole movie was about him not putting up with it and growing a pair. Maybe that's why I actually liked the last one, the discomfort humor is at a minimum. It's not like this movie is going to hurt any of them, though, it's quality was the least of its problems, Hill has another 21 Jump Street in the works, Vaughn is reteaming with Owen Wilson and Stiller just had Madagascar and has Secret Life Of Walter Mitty next year (His first directorial effort since Tropic Thunder). I do worry that the general downturn for nonteddybear R rated comedies may sink The Campaign, which looks like Will Ferrell's return to form and perhaps his best movie since Talladega Nights.

I see the worry there being about the political element, and whether or not it's going to bash one side more than the other that's going to scare people off. Which honestly, I don't think they're going for that route. They're going for Ferrell vs. Galifianakis in who can be a bigger dumbass more. It just so happens that politics is the Macguffin here. Ah yes, Walter Mitty, no way that will be a typical put upon schmuck movie... Walter Mitty is actually a short story from 1939. Looks like Stiller's going for the "Night at the Museum" crowd with this.

Well, it's a Jay Roach movie, he made Recount and Game Change, as well as all three Austin Powers movies and the first two Meet The Parents movies. But I just mean the general downturn of R rated comedy this summer, Ted aside, Sandler tried something a little different and failed, Sacha Baron Cohen changed tactics and made a regular movie, and it disappointed, and now Stiller, Vaughn and Hill can't catch a break.

If TDKR really gets $64 mil for the past weekend, I'll eat my hat. I don't even own a hat, but I'd go out and specifically purchase one just to eat it.
I think they're engaging in a little boosting there, since the estimates get the early headlines. $58-59 mil would seem more in line.

It's nice to see a change of pace every now and then.

Sandler tried something a little different and failed It was Sandler doing a goofy voice and acting like a manchild. That sure was refreshing. The last time he did anything that wasnt the above described was 'Click'/'Reign over me' (I forget which one came first)

Just Go With It, Jack and Jill, Grown Ups, Funny People, all movies that saw him playing successful, grounded characters. 2. That's My Boy was rated R, something Sandler almost never allows of his films.
