I was watching this movie earlier tonight on blu-ray (HIGHLY recommended for FANs with blu-ray players, by the way!) and was reminded of when I saw it in the theater back in 1993 when a thought occurred to me.
Next year is the 20th anniversary of the film's release and I would just about give my left big toe for it to be re-released to theaters. Anyone with me on this?
Oh, one thing I forgot, for the love of God and all things Holy......please not in 3D!!

I'd give your left toe for this as well. My boy is getting into dinosaurs and this is sitting in my mental pile of movies to hurry and expose him to. If I could get him to the theater to see this like I first seen it... man the joy I'd have at watching him shit himself when that T-rex roars for the first time. ;D
The sound system alone is worth price of admission for this.

One of my favorite movies ever. I was a dinosaur kid. I'd love a rerelease and even though I don't care for 3D, I'd probably watch it.

I was an 11 year old dinosaur fanatic when this came out. From the day I found out about it til the day I saw it (and afterwards) this film was my life. It was almost as if the film, and the marketing, was tailor made for me. Still love it to this day.

I just watched the Blu-Ray yesterday with my friends.
We're all huge fans of the movie from childhood, and every time we watch it, we think of a new way to make ourselves laugh. For example, after seeing a Jeopardy! category about movies in reverse, we would then take some of our favorite lines from the movie, and reverse them:
Grant: "After careful consideration, I have decided to endorse your park." Hammond: "I haven't."
Hammond: "PEOPLE. ARE. FINE!"
Grant: "Keep moving around, it's eyesight is based on stillness."
Etcetera.

Upon the recommendation of a coworker, I read the novel. Short but much different than the show. But had they tried to film the novel, they wouldn't have made a nickel. It is NOT kid friendly. If you thought the raptors were smart and viscious in the movie, I suggest giving the last five chapters a look. That said, I'd love a release. No 3D, imax only.

If they tried to film the book, the damn thing would be 5 hours long and cost 8 times as much too. Cutting stuff was never my problem with the adaptation, it was changing the characters so freaking much.
Still a great movie, and a great book, they are just different.
I was a dinosaur kid at the time it came out as well, 11 or 12, and seeing the movie I may have bitched and moaned about how the raptors were way too big, and the dilophosuarus were way too small.

hmmm, a 3D release would be interesting ..... just imagine the raptor jumping up at YOU!!!! that scene still makes me grab the arms of the chair!
saw the movie first time, when i was on holiday, and is one of many movies that i have watched four times in the cinema ..... and numerous times at home!
read both the jurassic park and the lost world novels, and would really like to see them made into mini series.

Yeah, I loved this movie and the only thing that would want me to not see a rerelease is the already discussed point.
f*** 3D.

It was rereleased in the U.K. last year and was in original form not 3D. Was great to see the film at the cinema again since it was the most excited Id been to see a film when I was a kid.
Huh my parents told me as well that they went to see the film together just to see if it was appropriate for me to watch! I was 8 when it was released.

I think the dilophosaurus that was shown was really young. Dennis even says " I thought you were one of your big brothers." Of course he could have been referring to a T. rex. Here's another problem with the velociraptors, their fossils are not found in the United States.

Perfect place for me to place this question, what the hell is up with the cartoon slipping noise Newman makes when he falls down the hillside?

A dinosaur doesn't spit venom either.

My favourite film of all time. I don't know what I love about it, but I have loved it ever since I saw it in the cinema.
