Thought it was kinda funny that they build him up as a legend but who comes out to start a feud with him? Kash and Gunner? Then haul out Hernandez so they can be LA Mex or whatever this team will be called.
So they are in touch with reality and are going to use him as the solid midcarder he is. So why all the fanfare and delusions of grandeur?

Well, I kinda feel bad for Chavo because he never got the chances like Eddie did. You think he gotten treated better after Eddie passed. Instead they push Rey. Chavo is the only really active man Guerrero wrestling right now. I get why they signed him in TNA because he talented. ME talent, not anymore. the WWE buried him way to much to believe it.

He got plenty of chances. How many times was he paired with Eddy in WWE and WCW to try and get him over but when they split no one cared about Chavo? How about turning heel on Rey and putting him on the shelf for 6 months and Chavo still not being over? How about being stuck with Edge and Vickie but again, no one caring? Being the guy that took the ECW title off a red hot CM Punk and getting nothing from it? Being the Cruiserweight king in WCW and getting no reaction constantly? People are apathetic to serious Chavo. It's never worked no matter how many popular stars they put him with or over. The only times people cared about him is when he's goofy Chavo. He's Santino with in ring talent and TNA already has someone (better) in that role.

I've been a Chavo fan for a long time, really liked him in WCW, loved him with Eddie and even felt his run on ECW was pretty good but he's 41. I've heard that he's wrestled well in the promotion Lance Storm books and the in ring action has never been the concern with Chavo, but what's he going to do? He, realistically, doesn't have too many years left in him especially with that style and, unless he gets a character revamp, he just doesn't seem to be in a position to do anything but work as either enhancement or a decent midcarder. Which he's been his entire career, certainly is a necessity in pro wrestling, and something to be respected. But, it doesn't look like it will be that way. It looks like they want to hype him up as a big deal. He isn't one, not yet anyway. It's a do or die thing, this might be a Bully Ray situation where a good to great worker turns into a phenomenal one with a gimmick change and a refocus in his career. So, maybe Chavo will be the same way. I personally think he has a ton of talent but that's not the only thing you need in wrestling. Personally, I hope he kicks ass. He complained about not having opportunities in WWE. Well, hopefully he'll get those in TNA and show what he's capable of. This is the best case scenario obviously. I don't see where Chavo has ever failed to deliver in the ring, I think it's an issue of not having credibility due to comedy booking. He was chosen to be the "funny Guerrero" and Eddie was chosen for the push as a serious threat. It made sense at the time. Eddie had a more powerful, commanding voice for promos, he had more experience and paid more dues, and being older made him look more wily and tough than the relatively baby-faced Chavo. If they had known Eddie wasn't going to be around though, I have to wonder if they would have protected Chavo more. He would have been a logical choice to fill the void on the roster that Eddie's tragic passing left, but he had already been booked into oblivion. It couldn't be undone. Maybe TNA could be a fresh start though. I wish him the best of luck.

It doesn't hurt that Rey is about a million times more talented than Chavo, and is more marketable. That's not a knock on Chavo as Rey is one of the top 5 or so luchadors of all time. For the record, even back in WCW I never really took Chavo seriously, as he was always involved in some sort of ridiculous angle. Goody mid card angles are what he's good at, I'm pretty sure that even Chavo himself realizes that.

Chavo says he sees hungry wrestlers, yeah they are Ryback-Hungry and see Chavo and think...."JOBBER FEED ME MORE!" and Eric Young feels the weight lifted off his shoulders now that there is a new a village idiot.

You know, there could be a lot of fun here if they quit half-assing this Chavo hype.
They're treating him like a huge sign from a rival promotion. It's not enough.
Women that see him should shriek/faint like eleven year old girls at a Bieber concert.
Guys like Samoa Joe should be shown crossing the street to avoid having to cross his path.
A vaguely comedic bigger-than-his-own-britches heel Chavo might just work.
