A lot of the music from the early 1990s. I know that there was some good stuff happening, but school dances (and co-ed birthday parties) seemed to be three hours of 2 Unlimited, Technotronic, C+C Music Factory, TLC, Boys II Men, Salt N Pepa, etc.
Not that there wasn't awful music throughout the decade, but it became easier to avoid as I got older.

You know what I DO miss? I miss "booty music". I know that some of the modern dance hits try to emulate it, but its not the same.

The music. I never liked rap, and the rock of the time was all about either being angry or depressed.

I still used VHS regularly until last fall, when my last VCR started eating cassettes.

I always used to tape over other programs, even if it wasn't for very long. Luckily I never taped that much, but when I did typically it was a disaster. Like when I accidentally taped over one of my Dad's NWA tapes with some cartoons, I found that out while watching it recently. Oh man, i hear that. I recently watched an old tape of mine, which I used in 1995 to record random shows I liked, but by 1996, it was being used for music videos. In between those music videos, I could see a second of the old shows, and watching the tape back recently I thought "wow, I would really like to watch that." Some of the shows are hard to find, like there was this show called Monster Wars, a monster truck racing show that gave some of the trucks a wrestling type character used only for promos. I loved the show and I regret taping over it, because you can't find too many of the episodes online. I remember seeing Dusty Rhodes commentating on one of these shows. Please tell me I was just imagining things.

The speculator market for baseball cards, comics, toys. After seeing Toy Story 2, i agree that toys are meant to be played with, and comics are meant to be read (TS2 didnt mention comics, but the point remains). I understand really rare stuff, but people were buying up comics and never reading them, thinking that "issue 1" or "rookie card" meant instant cash, while the toy collectors would often grab the toys before the kids even got a chance to get them. Sadly, this is happening again with music (paticularly first pressings of cd's), meaning anyone who simply wants to listen to the album has to pay a mint on ebay.

The wave of gross-out shows trying to capitalize on the success of Ren & Stimpy. Best example of one of those shows that was such a ripoff and never ever felt super funny was Shnookums and Meat

Were there that many R&S knockoffs? Aside from Schnookums and Meat and Cow and Chicken i cant think of many. A case could be made for two stupid dogs and rockos modern life, but 2SD didnt rely on grossout humor, and Rocko had a different feel (especially in the later eps).

Not many that tried to rip it off so much as emulate the gross out style without the subtlety

Most of the live action TV from the 90's Athletic shoe madness Action and Sci Fi movies tight rolled jeans on anyone toothy bangs Those wacky high wedge/bob haiircuts dudes had yeah, as much as I hated much 90s fashion(which I previously mentioned. I mean, who the f*** thought that XXL fluorescent shirts, jorts, calf-high socks and a pair k-swiss was an acceptable outfit? ), 90s hair was terrible. I mean, 80s hair was/is bad, but at least you can go back to that and laugh at it in a more friendly way(or blame it on cocaine ). 90s hair was just terrible, the whole decade through. Women's popular hairstyles seemed to be improving towards the end of the decade, but men's hairstyles still were terrible going into the new millennium(if you weren't trying to look like a backstreet boy orbleached your hair like eminem, you had a Dawson's Creek haircut, admit it! )

Bad cartoons based on movies and books
90's did comic books great, and even did ok with videogames. But there were a lot of short-lived, cheap cartoons based on movies that really didn't need them.
