I would like to apologize to the entire Batarian race, as well as Sentinels everywhere. Because HOLY S*** did I have a more fun time playing that than the Krogan Battlemaster. Voiceroverguy: "Blah blah blah ELIMINATE TARGETS." Batarian: "With pleasure!!!!!!~!"

You know, despite Batarians having, until ME3, an almost entirely antagonistic role in the ME universe, they've actually been one of my favorite races in the series.
For one they just f***ing look cool. I'm just getting that out there, Batarians have one of the best designs in the ME series. I put Batarians in the same class as the Drell and Vorcha in terms of design, the "badass motherf***ers" class, because you just look at a Drell, Batarian, or Vorcha and their design screams "badass".
Another thing I like about the Batarians is, they are our galactic neighbors. Their systems are by far the closest ones to us.
Oh, yeah, and killing 300,000 of them did give me a great deal of guilt, even if it was an act for the "greater good".

Sentinel in general is a pretty fun class. I actually hated it in ME1, but the changes to the class in ME2 and 3 were pretty awesome. Especially the explodey shields. ;D

It screamed, "Holy shit, that thing is going to kill me and then have its way with my corpse, and then eat the remaining fragments of my wrecked mortal coil."

Also, the Batarian's heavy melee is Big Show's knockout punch.
Which is awesome.

Also, the Batarian's heavy melee is Big Show's knockout punch. Which is awesome. Insane punch is nice, but ballistic blades are better. You can have that and the Geth Shotgun with a cooldown time of around 2.52 sec if you ignore Blade Armor. Now on Batarian Sentinel, yes, Blade Armor is a better option, but on the Soldier, better to max everything else and ignore it entirely.

Yeah, my first thought when I saw the Yahg was something along the lines of "kill it with fire!" and less "Wow, that thing looks boss.
Although Krogans still are my favorite design of all the species.

To be honest the Krogan don't visually look impressive to me, rather from a visual stand point they look slow, helpless, almost like Space Turtles to me.
Now, as we all know, that most certainly isn't the case, but design wise that is the look they give off.

My favorite species is the turians. Then the geth. I didn't like the geth all that much at first, then I met Legion and I really became fascinated by them.
After those two I like the krogans and quarians a lot. The volus and elcor also amuse me.

Now in terms of favorite races, my top 3 are Turians, Krogan, and the Geth. Turians mainly because of Garrus, the Krogan because of the Genophage, and the Geth because of Legion.
I did really like the Quarians at first because of Tali but Tali's loyalty mission in ME2 and how the Quarians behaved in ME3 made them into MAJOR dicks, so really.aside from a small amount of Quarians, f*** them.

So my victory pack came with a Geth Engineer.
I was hoping for a Geth Infiltrator, though. Guess it'll do. I now have all Engineer Classes.

Now, as we all know, that most certainly isn't the case, but design wise that is the look they give off. I always thought of Krogan as being like toads. Tough, ugly, and able to breed faster than anything could ever wipe them out. Krogan and Quarian are by far my two favorite races, largely since they're racial/social commentaries in and of themselves. Volus and Batarian for similar reasons (Fanbase hatred of Batarians is just proof that no matter how you slice it, most people are fiercely nationalist by nature and eat up anything negative media tells them about a group). My regret about Volus is that we never get to see their military in action. They're a client race of the Turians and not physically well-adapted for military purposes...but how does that matter when you're in a interstellar warship?

Yes, characterize an entire race of people for the actions of a handful of bad people. You know all the people who live in Uganda? Forget innocent civilians who make up most of the population. Joseph Kony and his guerillas are prominent bad guys, so f*** the Ugandans. How about all those North Koreans? Their government hates the US, hates the West in general, hates Japan, hates South Korea, hates capitalism. We don't ever see ordinary North Koreans, only brainwashed loyalists who support the Kim regime. You know what? f*** the Koreans too. ...you see where this is going?

The Quarians aren't at all like anything you just listed. Hell I'm not even talking about the Admiralty Board, which is the only way any of your examples would apply. Remember, the Quarians started the Morning War. It is their own fault they didn't live on Rannoch anymore. Hell the Geth drove them away just so there would even be a Quarian race left! And yet they never learned from their lesson. Their future generations grew up thinking the Geth rose up against the Quarians and started the war, they thought they had to take back Rannoch by force. Only one of the Admirals even had any clue as to the real solution, peace. But noooooooo, the majority of the Quarians had a "the Geth MUST die policy", and well, look what that got them, the entire destruction of their race(at least in my playthrough). Those who don't learn from the past are doomed to repeat it, and that's what happened with the Quarians. They didn't learn that they caused the war, and they end up being the aggressors against the Geth yet again. The Admiralty Board may be the biggest dicks of the bunch, but nearly the entire race is at least partially dickish.

They didn't learn that they caused the war, and they end up being the aggressors against the Geth yet again. The Admiralty Board may be the biggest dicks of the bunch, but nearly the entire race is at least partially dickish. It is totally the same thing. "The Quarians" this and "The Quarians" that. You're labeling an entire group of billions of people based on the actions of a power-abusing minority; in this case, Quarian leadership; prior and during the Morning War led to the abuse of the Geth. Quarian leadership on the Flotilla afterwards leads to war. Legion points out that during the Morning War, the anti-Geth faction overpowered what was a sizable pro-Geth faction, and that most individuals (including Geth programs themselves) conveniently ignore this truth. If the Quarians stay on the Flotilla they will be doomed. Their ships cannot hold up for long, and their attempts to colonize other worlds have led to the Council booting them off these planets. They don't have much choice but to fight back--unless both can be convinced to share Rannoch. The fact that, if you choose this option, the Quarians are eager to accept it, points out that they're not so bad after all. They've just been cornered for so long. If Raan had sided with Tali and Koris over Xen and Han, Quarian history would've done a 180 from the "war reboot" that you see in ME3. They would've been at peace with the Geth and Shepard would've not been quite so important to it all. Read between the lines on the Quarian Question: is it right to condemn an entire race based on the actions of foolhardy leadership? Especially when the foolhardy leadership outvotes the level-headed leadership by the slimmest possible margin? This isn't science-fiction. This is racial and social commentary.

The quarians are a race that represents desperation and survival by any means necessary. Some are more ruthless than others, true, but many see the extreme measures as necessary to the survival of the race. The geth aren't entirely innocent either and some calculations have been off (the Heretics that followed Saren and the Reapers), but like the quarians, they aren't representative of the race as a whole.
The war between the geth and quarians is one driven by fear of the other race and the desire to survive. Once those barriers are broken down, a true path to peace can be reached.
Really, my entire opinion of the geth changed after meeting Legion. I had only known them as the douchebags that kicked the quarians off their home planet and the guys who were the cannon fodder for the Reapers in ME1. Actually learning about them made me a lot more sympathetic to them.
Ultimately, I think the quarians and geth both have a right to exist. And I'm not going to deny an entire race's right to exist based on their fear and propaganda and leaders taking advantage of that fear. Especially with the beings responsible for the hostilities to begin with are long, long dead.
