The spider took the form of a clown in order to lure in young children ? When the kid got pulled into the sewer at the beginning by the clown he was actually pulled in by the large spider creature then ?

...Kinda? Ish? Basically, the giant spider thing is "the most humans can comprehend". The truth is, it's not a creature that really has a "form". It's just evil, dead lights. At least that's how I always perceived it.

Yeah sorta a formless entity that's a physical conception of fear is how I always took it.
It just took the form of a laughably goofy looking spider ( I mean the budget was low I'm sure, but good lord), for some reason there at the end

I dont know if this is the general consensus, but this book/movie seemed awfully pretentious to me after trying to figure out what its all about.

At least the tv movie didn't have all the boys having sex with Bev.
That's just..weird.

Well something like Misery or Cujo seems pretty simple and straight forward to me and then you have stuff like It, The Tommyknockers, The Shining, etc. where its harder to grasp your head around it because of all the supernatutal elements. All the "supernatural" stuff makes it feel pretentious, I dont know its just my opinion.

Not a fan of King's whole body of work, but IT....I don't know what it is, but that book terrifies me.

A character who we're meant to sympathise with despite him getting his jollies from bullying and humiliating women and the description of a discovery of an alien vessel pushed aside to go into unwelcome detail of a woman's late period. Not a good book to start with when looking at Stephen King books really.

In the book IT is implied to be a non-corporeal entity that just takes whatever shape it wants. It decides to appear as a clown because kids love clowns (or at least at the time they did). Tim Curry was born for that role.

Tommyknockers was written when King was in the middle of a cocaine addiction. Not his best work by a long shot but I found Insomnia to be much worse and Dreamcatcher was pretty bad too.

Yeah, he has admitted that in retrospect he does not quite understand the book himself. He has even said he does not remember writing Cujo at all beacuse he was so drunk and stoned at the time.

I'm pretty sure he said he was high or on drugs when directing Maximum Overdrive.
Man, Steven King did a lot of drugs, didn't he?

Still trying to figure out how it really connects to the Dark Tower series as it's supposed to somehow be connected.

Oh, shit, I remember this, one of the main villains of Dark Tower(I'm assuming, I haven't read the series) is uses one of the psuedonyms that Pennywise uses during IT. And at some point, a character in The Dark Tower sees some weird wallpaper somewhere that was the same type that was found in Pennywise's house(for a given value) in IT.

Yeah, I mean, some of the book connections I can understand (like Insomnia), but some (like It, Bag Of Bones, and From A Buick 8) make little sense if any.
