To address the Gina Carona talk in the old thread, I'd believe the wisest move for her to make would be to drop 10 pounds, then beat 2-3 cans then get her ass whopped by Marloes Coenen.

Vera's nose must be terrified at the news.

I would like to see Vera fight Ortiz where the loser gets shot into space and is never heard from again... Maybe the winner too for that matter.

Exposing my "noobness" here, but since I've honestly never seen the dude fight, what's the knock on Vera?

Exposing my "noobness" here, but since I've honestly never seen the dude fight, what's the knock on Vera? He's looked terrible lately. He started his career on a huge hot streak, beating up Fabiano Scherner, Assuerio Silva, Justin Eilers, and Frank Mir. Then, he lost a really boring decision to Tim Sylvia in which it didn't even look like he was trying. Then he lost to Fabricio Werdum. Then he moved down to 205 and beat up some cans, then lost to Keith Jardine, Randy Couture, Jon Jones, and now Thiago Silva. He was cut, but now he's back because apparently Thiago was caught with illegal substances before their fight, so Vera gets yet another chance.

I won't argue his loss to Jones or Silva, but his loss to Couture was complete crap. Vera pushed the pace while Couture kept him against the cage for the majority of the match. Vera came close to knocking Couture out, but Randy battled back and ultimately won. Jardine sucks, so I'm just sore about that one.

Oh, I definitely thought Vera won the fight, but the fact is, he had a close fight with Randy Couture. In 2009. That's not something a good fighter would do.

Sucks for Manny, but now, it is likely that Assuncao will face Erik Koch since Koch's opponent, Cub Swanson, pulled out of UFC on Versus 3. That has potential to be a very exciting fight.

That's what I was saying in that earlier thread...feeding her cans or not, ultimately the girl you're pimping out as the "face of women's MMA" is going to hit a roadblock in either Cyborg or another one of those women the artilce I linked to mentioned, all of whom have been active while Carano has been off in La La Land making her movie. Seems like she's set up for failure no matter what path she takes.

Michael Bisping’s actions at UFC 127 earned him a victory, but it also may have prodded a hornet’s nest. The one looking to sting the Brit next is a returning Chael Sonnen.
Still considered the top middleweight contender in the UFC, MMAWeekly.com was able obtain an email sent from Sonnen to UFC matchmaker Joe Silva requesting a fight against Bisping in the near future....
--------------------
To: Joe Silva, Matchmaker Extraordinaire, Ultimate Fighting Championship Re: Spitsbing & his tainted victory
Joe:
If you get a chance to talk with him, please mention to your idiot-in-residence Michael Spitsbing it’ll be a little tougher to knee ME in the head when I’m charging at him like a runaway train and mincing him through the fence like a boiled potato, should we ever have the pleasure of each other’s company for a few (VERY few) moments in the Octagon.
Oh; and I’d suggest to him being a little careful about spitting on any of MY cornermen, since any one of them can beat him up as badly as I can. Thanks ever so much. Hope all is well.
-Chael Sonnen
--------------------
When UFC 127 ended, many fans immediately started asking about a potential fight between Sonnen and Bisping, who have exchanged words in the past.
Sonnen’s manager, Mike Roberts of MMA Inc., echoed the sentiments of his client, and his desire to face Bisping when he returns to action.
“I’ve had the chance to talk to Chael and he absolutely has Michael Bisping in his crosshairs and wants to fight him,” Roberts told MMAWeekly.com “Chael welcomes the chance to face him in the UFC and give the fans what they want.”
Sonnen is awaiting a return to action after a hiatus from fighting due to personal issues, but now it appears he’s ready to start stirring things up, and the first person on his hit list is Michael Bisping.
The brash Brit ruffled more than a few feathers with his post fight antics when he spit in the corner of opponent Jorge Rivera after their fight ended in Australia. Bisping has also come under heavy criticism for an illegal knee strike that he landed on Rivera in the first round, although he’s stated several times it was purely accidental.
Vitor Belfort also hit Twitter recently to state his desire to face Bisping.
There has been no date for when Sonnen might return to action, but a fight against Bisping might just be the fight the UFC would want for him.[/quote]
Wtf is up with Sonnen jumping on this train? Is he just trying to get the heat off himself, or does he seriously think that Bispbing's spitting incident is somehow worse than his own steroids/money laundering accusations?
I think the guy is hilarious, personally... but he might be going too far, too soon on this one. Nobody has forgotten the hot water Chael has gotten himself into recently, not by a long shot. If I were him, I'd probably just keep my mouth shut for a while.
Thoughts?

I suppose getting suspended for doping is a personal issue.
Anyway, if Michael Bisping was "sensitive" from the remarks of Jorge Rivera, then I'm guessing Chael Sonnen will have him bursting into tears at the weigh-in.
Bisping's latest actions have seemed to put him in the crosshairs for people in the Middleweight division who would like to improve their stock (IE Popularity) by white knighting for incensed fans and shutting "The Count"s mouth. In that regards, it makes perfect sense for "Illegal Personal Issues" Chael and "Look out for that Front Kick" Vitor to be throwing down the gauntlet.

Sonnen will tear a hole in Bisping. Im looking forward to it. Indeed. Sonnen may be....messed up, on a lot of levels, but damned if he's not a great fighter. He'll tear Bisping apart.

I agree with both of you, 100%. I've never liked Bisping, all the way back to when he was on TUF. He seems like a loud mouth, cocky bastard... and on top of that, he doesn't seem to be able to back it up unless he's fighting a can. UFC pushes him because he's the only half decent British fighter they have, and they can market him heavily in the UK by placing him against people they think he can steamroll. I'd love to see Chael or Vitor, whichever, get their hands on him... but, looking at his track record, they'll probably pluck some dude you've never heard of from Bellator and place him in the cage across from The Count so he can win and continue to hide the fact that his fighting skills are mediocre at best. Dammit.

A Sonnen-Bisping fight would be a fun one. The hype and the pre-fight trash would be worth it on its own. Guess we'll see if it happens, or even if Sonnen ever fights again. His suspension ended yesterday but he's got his hearing at the end of the month to determine the sentence for his money laudering conviction. We may not see him again for 20 years but it probably won't be that bad due to his plea agreement. Guess we'll see what happens. If not Sonnen, then Vitor can go knock Bisping out. I've got no problem with that.

I suppose getting suspended for doping is a personal issue. The suspension for doping ended March 2, but the UFC suspended him while he dealt with his legal issues. His sentencing is later this month I think.

Diego Sanchez somehow just decisioned Martin Kampman. Hes spontaneously bleeding from a dozen holes and his face is only being held on by the power of "YES!"
