Eh... maybe. But a good double leg will only get you so far. Ask Brock. If he'd somehow made it to play with the big boys (i.e. Fedor, Barnett, Overeem, Bigfoot, Sergei Kharitonov, and Werdum), he probably would have been beaten to a bloody pulp. Not hating on the guy, but you can only train so much when you start late and have the injuries of pro wrestling under your belt (ask Shamrock). That said, I wish Vince would either have another Brawl for All or let some of his lower card guys try out the MMA thing, because I think a few of them could at least crush a few cans. Swagger is an All-American (American) Wrestler, Kozlov is built like a brick s***house and is a Sambo Champion, and Santino has a black belt in judo, I believe, and is a competent grappler. Oh, I definitely wouldn't argue with you on that first point for Lashley. I think Brock could at least hang with any of those guys you mentioned, but Lashley would be easily handled by the bloody lot of them. I do think, however, that he could have/would have beaten Chad Griggs his last time out. It's just a shame that he wasn't allowed to continue bleeding for 30 more seconds, because we probably would have seen a completely different outcome than the one we saw. That was my whole thing. Not that Lashley is a superman, and can only be beaten by unconventional means... but he would've won THAT fight, had it not been for bad officiating. As far as Brock goes, though, he gets a bad rap. He went up against a two undefeated super-soldiers in a row, and was beaten by the second one... no shame in that. I dunno why people were so quick to rag on him, and say that he's not a good fighter just because he lost to Cain Velasquez. He's done quite a bit for someone who has only been around the sport for a couple of years, especially at his age, but people immediately jumped all over him just because he had one misstep. I don't get it. ... but a new Brawl For All? I'd pay good money to see that, sir! And risk having a "joke" character like Santino destroy someone he's personally pegged to win like a Mason Ryan or Big Show? Or do you mean have legit weight classes and everything this time?

Sure, why not? It'd give the undercard something to do. Even if they did it as a work, they could possibly make someone's career by doing this. You don't have to break Kayfabe by doing this, just bring in some guys that you can acknowledge on TV as having some prior martial arts experience (I'm counting collegiate wrestling, as well), and have a worked tournament where a guy can get the rub and be the new "Most dangerous man" of WWE. And as for Brock.. I'd have more respect for him if he carried himself with a better demeanor. I mean, he showed class against Randy and Cain (especially since Cain took his soul), but he was just utterly unlikable after the second Frank Mir fight, no matter how much Mir pissed him off.

He shows respect to those who have showed him respect. I have no problem in the world with that line of thinking. Mir and Herring both tried to get under his skin, make light of his past as a professional wrestler, and just be generally irritating prior to their fights with Brock. I don't blame him a bit for going out of his way to humiliate them after they did the same to him. He showed respect to Couture, Carwin, and Velasquez win, lose, or draw because they weren't trash talkers. I think that's the way it should be, so long as you don't take it too far like Bisping did...

twitter.com/#!/CRUSHER_MMA/status/46160249945735168 I care little about an Earthquake that happened along the Ring of Fire, though it has caused me to become very very interested in this fight. Not interested enough to drive 10 hours to San Diego. But interested enough that I will avoid 3 hour west coast delay spoilers to watch this, possibly even going to a place with DirecTV to watch it live.

What fight is this? I heard all about the earthquake, but I couldn't gather enough from that twitter post to find out what fight you're referring to.

Tatsuya "Crusher" Kawajiri vs. Gilbert Melendez... VERY interesting matchup. Gilbert dominated Shinya Aoki, who took Kawajiri's leg home with him at Dynamite!! 2009, but Crusher absolutely ragdolled a very game Josh Thomson, whom Gil is 1-1 with. Kawajiri is Japan's best hope of ever making a splash in American MMA. He's a great wrestler, has fantastic takedowns, and isn't afraid to finish. He's also one of the few Japanese fighters that understands how to cut weight, so he's not absolutely dwarfed come fight night.

Dana has much more impetus to keep Strikeforce seperate from UFC than he did PRIDE.
For one, Strikeforce has that ever so sweet Showtime deal.

Wow... that's freakin' huge news. Kinda wish we'd left the discussion for this MMA Thread, though. It needed a shot in the leg anyway.
Oh well, over to the new thread I go. :-P

Difference is, neither WCW nor Pride FC had TV deals when they were bought out making the promotion pretty much worthless, whereas StrikeForce still has about 2 years left on the Showtime deal, plus the possibility of landing on CBS again. Apparently a stipulation of the sale is that he Showtime contract has to be honored, so StrikeForce will be around for 2 years still. That being said, according to Josh Gross of SI the plan is for a merger once the Showtime deal is done

That might have been the greatest fight I have ever seen. I wonder where this took place, considering that the text on the ring/ropes is in English, but the background music and match participants are clearly of some other nationality.
That running Sweet Chin Music was definitely the highlight of the fight for me, regardless. You should post more of these if you can find them.

And also, Muay Thai meets ECW:

Kongo's just going to TRY to take him down, and if that fails, hold him against the fence. He's been very gunshy lately.
