Everyone is all freaked out for Donatello's crush on April, I don't know why, in the original cartoon series all of the turtles had a thing for April, or at least thought of her as attracted. In the arcade game when you rescued her, she kissed her rescurer and he blushed. So what is the big deal? I'm more disturbed by the fact that Raph has a pet turtle. It's like me keeping a pet human.

The Turtles have shown attraction to other spicie including human. I remember one episode Michaelangelo had a crush on a teenage genious heiress.

You know, human turtle relationship. Even though a lot of the MLP:FiM fandom prefer a dragon/pony relationship. But after I watched the two episodes, and I saw Donnie blush, I was like, "Awww. That's kinda cute." Yea, it's very much Brady Bunch-esque "I'm really keen on a boy/girl in my class. Maybe we'll get a soda after school on Friday" kind of attraction. It's not like Donatello said "I'm totally hitting that" and then high fived the rest of the Turtles. Also as I mentioned above, I loved the reaction shot of Donnie when he sees April, it's basically an exaggerated version of what goes through someone's head when you first see someone you're attracted to.

I remember when they helped the hot rodding teenagers from Dimension X. Michelangelo had a crush on the girl Neutrino.

Exactly. Next thing you know, Mikey will be like, "Donnie and April, sitting in a tree. K-I-S-S-I-N-G." And if Raph were to add to that, I would laugh my butt off. As I was these two episodes.

Eh, if Raph can have a fling with fox girl Ninjara in the Archie series, I don't see why Donnie can't go on a Y7-rated date with a human girl. If anything, it's less creepy now since April's around the same age as the Turtles.

I liked that the show seems to take itself alot less seriously than the 2003 version.
But I'm not big on the new character designs (Splinter looks especially crap-tacular), and the Kraang guys seem kinda lame. I would prefer it if they just brought back the original Krang, along with 1987 show characters like Bebop and Rocksteady.

As a huge TMNT fan whose favorite version of the Turtles is the original Mirage stuff, I absolutely loved this new take on the characters. I see a lot of fussing from people about April not being a reporter and whatnot, but April was created as a lab assistant to Baxter Stockman, so the reporter version in and of itself is also a deviation. I see no problem with re-imagining the property for a new generation so long as it stays faithful to the heart of the story, and they seem to be doing just that. If only the new live-action film could figure out what Nickelodeon seemingly have.
Also, I have to say that I absolutely love the fact that Michelangelo isn't a coward or an idiot. He seems very much like the 1990 film Mikey, which is by far my favorite version of the character.

I still like the 2003 cartoon the best, but this is good and has potential. I was really surprised with Splinter's origin, {Spoiler}pretty ballsy of them to kill off not just Yoshi's love, but their child too.

Heck, even if the child resurfaces, they're still taking big steps content wise.

It gives an even stronger meaning for Splinter's relationship with the Turtles and why he's so protective over them.

Believe it or not, I've never actually followed the 2003 show. I've seen a couple of episodes, and they were pretty good, but at the time I just didn't bother to follow it. I did see the Turtles Forever movie, and I liked it.
The last TMNT series I followed was the '80s version, but really, I would be too young to actually "follow" and understand whatever narrative it had, and just watched every episode because it was fun and I wanted to see my favorite turtle (Raph). So I guess you can say this new series is the first time I'm actually following a TMNT show (or going to), which probably explains why I really enjoyed the premiere and am looking forward to what lies ahead.

I'd definitely recommend checking out the first four seasons of the 2003 series. It adapted a large portion of the Mirage Comics series, and made a few of the stories a bit better. It also has the best version of Leonardo I've yet to see as a fan.

How bad is it, and is it not worth watching?

Think of the third Ninja Turtles movie, but instead of going to the past, they go to the future.

Once again, though, the reason they mutate into what they touch last opens the massive plot hole again.
The turtles mutate into human hybrids because they last touched Hamato Yoshi. But Yoshi, apparently last touched that rat (through his shoe), and thus mutates into a rat.
