Nick's version of TMNT just finished premiering (they're giving an encore right now), and I had no idea this was a thing until a couple of days ago.
I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. The art and presentation are top notch, and the comic book effects is a great touch, humor is surprisingly good (I must have laughed at least 8 times), and each turtle is distinguishable and unique. The origins story falls a little flat, but it's not bad or dumb by any means. There's some small changes that could displease hardcore fans (like April being a teenager), but sometimes change is good.
Overall, I was really impressed, and I plan on watching every other episode as it continues.

Watching it now and.....it's okay. The voices are all pretty good(though Sean Astin as Raph gives me pause), but....yeah, April is a REPORTER, not a teenager. Stupid Nickelodeon.

Only in the 80's cartoon continuity and the live action movies. In all the other incarnations, she was usually a scientist or ran a shop (or both, as in in the 2003 series), so them not making her a reporter isn't weird. Not as weird as making her look like Miley Cyrus's character from Bolt, at least. The animation style is a bit odd for me, like a CGI Teen Titan type approach. The voices are pretty good, although their personalities are still a bit hit or miss to me.

Awesome episode. I am hoping we see Bebop and Rocksteady are comic relief villains, but not as regular members of the Rocksteady, but as for hire thugs, meaning every episode they work for a variety of villains, and on some occassions for themselves.
Another thing, it is so obvious Splenter's daughter is alive, she is probably that Karai girl. Infints that are presumed dead in flashback, always turn out to be alive, and comeback to do something relevent in the story.

Also, the speaking style of the Krang(which is another thing that kind of irritates me, but I can live) is one of those things that's kind of funny once, but is gonna get annoying the longer it goes on.

So Shredder and the Krangs allies or not? I think they have their own agendas, and would only help each other if it benefitted themselves.

It helps that Mikey's voice actor is the same as Beast Boy's. I heard BB several times throughout the episode. I personally had low expectations going in, and ended up liking it. Don't like April as a teenager, or Splinter being tall and miscolored, but overall I was impressed.

Speaking of voices, I didn't know that the same voice actor who did Raphael in the '80s cartoon is doing Donatello in the new one. Like the animation, I was wondering why he sounded so familiar. That's a great little touch of nostalgia.

That's a great little touch of nostalgia. Yeah, Rob Paulsen surprisingly works as Donatello, especially given that the angrier comic incarnation of Raph is currently dominant. The plot is typical TMNT, a bit convoluted but that's to be expected from the franchise. I love the art direction, April's design is cute and it's nice how the turtles aren't clones of each other. But it's gonna take me a while to get used to Splinter's redesign, as I really hate the markings on his face- he looks more like some giant fuzzy alien than an anthropomorphic rat. The animation is fluid and even with some of the anime takes, I can still take what's going on seriously since they're not abusing them. Overall, I'm so far pleased.

I am going to say it, I can't believe it. It's no My Little Pony, but it is pretty good.

I have to say, overall, I like it. It's got action, humor, it's well animated. It may not be as dark and broody as the 2k3 but it isn't as goofy and campy as the 80s cartoon. It's got a happy medium kinda like Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Overall it's a pretty fun show.
Also, I just wanted to add that Greg Cipes makes an awesome Michelangelo...

So Shredder and the Krangs allies or not? I think they have their own agendas, and would only help each other if it benefitted themselves. I kinda hope this time around Krang and Shredder act as two enemies of the TMNT that act independently of one another. I just like the idea of group of bad guys being this invading alien force (also at some point I wanna see some god damn rock soldiers and Neutrinos!) and another being an evil ninja clan. Having the aliens team up with the ninjas in the '87 series seems a bit convoluted in retrospect. I also like villains to only team up on rare occasions while at the same time plotting against each other. I just love the whole idea of there being no honor amongst thieves. Didn't like the CGI animation at first, but it grew on me as the hour wore on until I hardly noticed. Loved Michelangelo treating canisters of mutagen as his mother. This design of Splinter is by far my least favorite. Splinter's brief meditation before choosing Leonardo as the Turtles' leader was a nice little nod to how fans of the comics, movies, and previous TV shows would obviously see Leo being tapped to lead his brothers from a mile away. I like how there was an explanation as to how the TMNT gained their appetite for pizza. I thought the writing was really good and I did not hate April being a teenager instead of an adult computer programmer/new reporter/ antique shop proprietor. I like it for two reasons: 1) It gives the kids watching the show a human character their age they can relate to (although I guess it can be argued that this is unnecessary since when we were kids the Turtles were the characters we related to since they were adolescents who adopted archetypes of human behavior) 2) It is something a little bit different that doesn't totally upset the very foundation of the franchise. The show is still four turtles who became anthropomorphic due to their exposure to mutagen, who are trained by their sensai who is either Hamato Yoshi turned into a rat or Hamato Yoshi's pet rat turned anthropommorphic thanks to the same mutagen. They befriend April O'Neill after coming to her rescue. And eventually take up Hamato Yoshi's vendetta against Oroku Saki/The Shredder and his minions the Foot Clan over a long simmering hatred that started half a world away in Japan, and along the way get into adventures that might not necessarily have anything to do with the foot. So far this new cartoon has stayed true to this, but managed to do so without having to go exactly by rote. They managed to stay true to the TMNT franchise but give it a little bit of a twist......THAT is how you do it Michael Bay!

I have nothing against the dude, and I like American Dragon: Jake Long which features these two as a pair, though that is because I saw that show first before a certain other show, and I heard of a certain ship, anyway if Casey ever appears in the series, I don't want Dante Basco voicing him. I don't want any nod to that ship which I effing hate. Though if they get the guy that voiced Aang, I am cool with that.
