....Yikes. I believe I've seen other clips of sitcoms where they take the laugh track out, and none of them really hold up. But here's this for your Friday. ;D

The thing with just removing the laugh track is that is makes the pacing seem unnatural. The speed of the dialogue is greatly effected by the audience. If you shoot it without a laugh track and pace it that way, like The Office or most of Fox's comedies, then it works fine.

Maybe it's just me, but I despise laugh tracks. Not too high on Big Bang Theory so not bothered watching the clip since it probably wouldn't make a difference for me, but I really and truly hate the things.

I don't really find this show funny with the laugh track, but without the laugh track it's much funnier, but only because I imagine the audience is still there but every joke is dying a horrible f***ing death (as they should because they're not funny).

Is it still a laugh track when it's from a live audience?

But here's this for your Friday. ;D To be fair, The Big Bang Theory doesn't hold up with the laugh track on either. But in all honesty, I actually find it a bit better now (then again, ANYTHING is better without laugh track), but it does show how much this series relies on it. Is it still a laugh track when it's from a live audience? It's on cue so same difference (and I suspect most of the shows that pride themselves on having a live audience throw in a few canned laughs as well).

I'd like to see Everybody Loves Raymond without the laughing. 3/4 of the show would just be them standing around awkwardly.

I can't stand laugh tracks either. I hate being told what I "should" be laughing at.

The jokes are bad enough. It's the audience that makes it unbearable. A thousand people screaming in riotous joy just because somebody made a Star Wars reference.

I long for a day when the laugh track/studio audience disappears forever in sitcoms. They're forced and make the program feel so fake.

People always moans about laugh tracks, I never notice them.
Just tune them out and dont let them impact my enjoyment of a show, especially a funny show like BBT

Married with Children had the best laugh tracks. The show was fantastic early on but the audience made it special.

Big Bang Theory is brilliant. That scene was just fairly unfunny anyway, other than the end.

"laughing track" is preferable to "coughing, yawning boredom track"

Gah, BBT is painful enough to watch with a laugh track that I couldn't make it through 1 minute without.

I'd like to know, on average, how much time is wasted with the laugh track? For sit-coms especially, they're always having to cut material for time. I know producers want to sweeten every joke so people will catch the contagious laughter, but it just seems like a waste of time.

This isn't much different than how I usually view the show, I find it painfully unfunny.
