The character is boring. His promos are boring. His gimmick is boring. His feuds are boring. He is a very good wrestler but it's hard to be interested in his matches when I'm not interested in the man himself. He needs revamping somehow... make him a drugs baron or have it revealed that he's importing slaves from Malaysia to work at his mansion... anything to make him more interesting. I agree with everything there, except I don't even think he is that good of a wrestler. He is repetitive in the ring, often using moves over and over again (for example the enzuigiri). His selling isn't that good and I just can't get into his matches. I enjoyed his collection of matches with Christian, but I feel that was completely down to Christian. If he was that good in the ring, I wouldn't have the same reaction as I do to his promos...which I do. Which would be a combination of both anger/sadness/tiredness every time he is on my screen, whether for a promo or a match. It also doesn't help the fact that he has been constantly pushed since he has debuted, even though he isn't in no way, shape or form over. I have no problem with quick pushes (if they are over), like Angle, Lesnar etc and others in the past but their gimmicks have worked and the crowd was into them. The fact that he is now a 2 time WWE Champion makes me cringe just thinking about it. I used to dislike Miz, but thanks to his face turn and him improving leaps and bounds in the ring has made me come not only like him but appreciate his work. Even though I hate the fact he was pushed to the WM27 main event with Del Rio I have no problem with any push he receives going forward. On the other hand I still think it should have been Edge vs Christian at WM27, not Del Rio.

Damn, seems like a while since he first debuted (2010?). I remember that for some reason he was my favorite guy on Smackdown. I'd be whistling his theme during class and stuff. Good times. I'd give him a Mexican drug dealer gimmick. They don't have to explicitly show him selling drugs to Kofi Kingston or anything like that, just have him be a total scumbag who is constantly putting bounties on wrestlers and titles, and have him build an empire of wrestlers. They could dominate Smackdown for a few months, and whoever beats him and ends the reign of terror could get a HUGE rub.

Alberto Del Rio, Damien Sandow, and Antonia Cesaro are the same character. This needs to change for any one of them to get further than they are.

I could go for the easy joke about Cesaro being given a transgender gimmick, but instead, I'll focus on your point. I can see where Cesaro and Sandow have basically the same gimmick, but del Rio... Nah, don't really see it. He's a condescending douchebag like them (and so is his character! So much for not going for the easy joke), but the gimmick itself isn't really an intellectual or anything.

I think they should tap into Del Rio's aggressive side more.

It's probably too late but they could try bringing back some of the stuff that was getting him heat in the first place, before saddling him with destiny each and every week. The winking douchebag that told you things that you... you already knew.

Yeah, he's pretty damn boring now. I liked him a lot during his initial year or so, but then it just became clear he was just content being the same. I've noticed he's great at his promo delivery and things like that, but as far as off-the-cuff stuff goes, he appears at a loss for words. He needs to work on bringing more of his own personality out in the gimmick, I think. And WWE needs to stop booking him so awfully. I thought he was pretty interesting while in the wheelchair with the Bellas. But that ended as quickly as it began. He needs something like that - something to flesh out his character more beyond "guy who drives nice cars and loses to everyone while getting aggressive wins over Kofi Kingston."

There was also that like week he came out and was a disingenuous champion of the people schtick that I thought they could have run with.

He's a great athlete and certainly seems capable enough, but for whatever reason he can't get clean wins over established, upper-tier faces to make him look like a credible threat. His character's in dire need of being more fleshed out.

IMO he has the ability to be the Mexican Dwayne Rocky if he wanted but at the moment the WWE wants him to go off his heritage, which is nice and worth mentioning but when the 'casual' fan has no idea who he is, he becomes boring and annoying after awhile. In short, do you Berto, even if it means giving up a few million dollars.

I just thought of something better for my Poor Del Rio idea. Del Rio loses his fortune, Ricardo starts wrestling, acheives more than Alberto ever did, and Alberto has to be Ricardo's man servant and announcer. Del Rio does a bad job and most of the time, Ricardo shows him how its done, announcing himself as he walks to the ring. It's unfortunate that FCW canon didn't translate over, because according to Ricardo, Del Rio worked for him.

Del Rio is the foreign guy who acts superior and is rich but flaunts the money and not his education. Sandow is the foreign guy who acts superior and is rich but wants to educate you. Cesaro is the foreign guy who acts superior and is rich but wants to educate you in linguistics.
They might as well be one guy named Mohammed Bradshaw Striker.

Isn't Damien Sandow suppose to be from Palo Alto?

Isn't Damien Sandow suppose to be from Palo Alto? Yes, Sandow is not Foreign at all. Also Cesaro is not supposed to be rich, nor even trying to educate anyone. His speaking 5 different languages is just one of the ways he finds himself superior to the American audiences.

When Del Rio debuted he got over quickly, up until Wrestlemania against Edge he was over.
Then they had no short or long term plans for him except as a fifty seventh wheel, gave him no character motivation, and have done nothing to help him aside from making him the PPV fall guy.
He's one of the best hands on the roster as far as wrestling goes, but people get tired of great wrestlers when the company doesn't care to write an intriguing story arc. Hell, the last time I remember people caring about Del Rio a ton was when Sheamus stole the title from him (foot on rope removal etc).
I'm still a fan of the guy though, the myth that he was never over just confuses me at times, it's as if people didn't watch WWE at all from 2010 to the first third of 2011.

He's better in the ring than CM Punk.
