He's better in the ring than CM Punk. I hesitantly agree with that. Personally think Punk isn't all that great in the ring anyway (certainly not bad, just nothing special) and most of his true skill lies in comedy, but del Rio is pretty damn good in the ring... he just has a really crappy, limited moveset. Would take it over Punk's jumbled, incoherent sort of selection, but I do think del Rio would benefit from changing up his moveset and getting an actual, pinnable finisher.

I thought he managed to get an average match out of Khali last night. I think Del Rio is terrific. I think his execution of moves is flawless, his finisher is good. It get's boring because he has a submission finisher. Strategic wrestling like that always looks less flashy. The corner enziguri he does should be able to put guys away.

I do like the armbar itself, I just think he could stand to get a secondary finisher and to pick up the pace every now and then. With the right opponent del Rio can be pretty damn good, even if it's only really shown to date with Edge and Christian.

Last night he went from wearing a Suit, talking to Khali backstage to being in his undies and driving his car in his entrance in 8 seconds.
So Del Rio no only defies the crowds apathy, but he defies time and space as well.

He lost a lot of his character. We know he's rich, but we don't know how he got rich, or why he is rich. We know he's a jerk, but we don't understand the full latency of his obnoxious and rude behavior. And, he's constantly been built up, only to lose in PPV matches. When you factor in his two reigns as WWE Champion, they were a meager 10 weeks with only one successful defense on PPV.
He also goes for the same submission move every match. Although I do appreciate the WWE for having a guy try to win with a submission move in a company long known for having wrestlers use impact finishers, it can get redundant. It also says a lot about the opponents that actually lose to the armbreaker because you would think that, by now, they would figure out that he would go for it. I think him winning a match with a pinfall would be the start.
