I think Punk picked the wrong time to start yelling at Johnny Ace - Mick Foley didn't belong in the match, and just because Punk's tag partners walked out on him is no reason for Foley to enter the match, so the result should have been overturned.

In the entire history of Entertainment, the corporate shill yes-man has never been the "good guy".

I think people are confusing being entertained by with sympathy. The Johnny Ace character is so over the top ridiculous, that he's almost loveable. But the story is still that he's a back-stabbing yes-man bent on pushing a rotten and corrupted agenda. His inability to actually act just makes him almost charming in a goofy kind of way. As far as authority figures being mistreated by a superface unfairly go, I look to Austin and Flair in 2002. Naitch was nothing but respectful and helpful at the beginning, but Austin turned him heel through sheer spite. Punk's just smarmy. But he's still right. He just seems to irk some with his personality, thus turning them off of his legitimate argument.

Johnny Ace is the skidmark on the underwear of the WWE, he is an incompetent goof who cannot speak clearly and sounds like Super Dave Osbourne. My own dog Ace is more entertaining than that jackass would ever be. Cannot stand the fact that he took over after JR resigned as VP of talent relations, look at the guys that JR brought in and then look at the "wonderful talent" that Funkman has brought to the table lol.

I was expecting him to hit an Ace Crusher on Foley after Punk left.

When the heel in the dynamic is a legit kiss-ass who no-one really likes like Johnny Ace is, and YOU come off as the unsympathetic dick, you're doing it wrong. I mean even by the standards set by guys like Rock and Triple H, CM Punk is probably one of the worst faces I've ever seen. Honestly, when he got done, I was actually looking forward to Laurinaitis screwing him.

I think people are completely missing the point of CM Punk as a character. His babyface status is determined ONLY by crowd reaction. There was never any attempt made to make his character less of an asshole. People started cheering him for being one, and so a prick he remains.
Think Rob Van Dam in the original ECW. The guy was a complete douche, the crowd got behind him, and he was considered a babyface. Yet, his character was still a complete dick. That's how you keep a character's integrity. I hate when someone turns face and instantly gets a personality transplant.
So, for everyone thinking CM Punk is the prick in this situation, that's fine. He's not supposed to be winning anyone over. If people love him, that's great. If they don't, that's okay too. He's like a modern-day Roddy Piper.

He even said all the way back in Boston before Money in the Bank that he doesn't wear a white hat and is flat out not a nice guy. But the people responded by making him their Voice of the Voiceless.

And if Punk came out and was a smiley nice guy, it'd ruin his entire character. There's a reason people turned on Cena, and why the Rock talks about how "real men" (as stupid of a way to put it as that is) see through Cena's "Phony BS". Cena's character has no balls, and that's actually what HIS storyline is taking care of right now. In the meantime, they've given the fans a superface with an edge (and not a cliche "badass" edge, like Orton/Batista), which is what they've wanted for YEARS. WWE writing is firing on all cylinders right now.

Who else did? Ace has been a bastard, but Punk kinda is too. And that vanilla Johnny Ace has a couple of great matches to his name!! I'm on Johnny Ace's side in this feud. Punk is a total douchebag (which is great as a heel but irritating as a face), and that jerk Foley was just adding onto it. And after all, he's just doing his job putting on an exciting show for the audience and deserves some respect, damnit ;D

No one's asking Punker to become a white meat babyface, but showing some restraint, even tact, goes a long way. But he doesn't do that, he just goes on about how great he is, belittles anyone who isn't pro-Punk, then makes his opponent look like a total goober. Come to think of it, he almost reminds me of post-Reign face Triple H.

Big Johnny has grown on me. His ability to generate so much heat simply by stating his name and occupation amazes. I'd be lying if I said I didn't want him to lay Punk out either with an Ace Crusher or a skateboard.
I still want to see the skateboard, damnit!

That would have been an incredibly awful decision. Yeah, as crazy a moment it would have been, having Mr. Excitement actually doing something "exciting" would hurt the character.

I agree. I know that a lot of people can't stand his character, and fine, whatever. One has to put that aside and realize that his promo on RAW was fantastically performed. It felt REAL, and both Punk and Johnny Ace sold it with their facial expressions. This is the CM Punk that sold more T-Shirts than John Cena. Let's stick with this attitude.

I have an idea how this is going to work itself out, and I see the Cena/Kane feud being integral. Cena "stands up for the bullied", Ace is tired of "being bulled", so Cena will "stand up" for him, Kane will be proen right, yet somehow Cena and Laurenitis will be presented as the babyfaces.
