Vince telling him he can't even go to the event as a spectator is where it gets stupid and hypocritical. It's stupid and hypocritical of Vince to expect his WWE champion to show up and wrestle in the main event of a show he's advertised for that night? Would Dana White give one of his fighters the night off from a previously scheduled fight to go and sit in the front row of a WWE show?

The more I think about it, I'm glad Vince pulled Punk from the UFC show. To really explain why would require a personal anecdote. Basically, I was trying to help a local indie promotion find a venue to run in my home town and one of the venues wouldn't touch it because they had run MMA there and things had gotten out of control and they had insurance issues. I tried to explain to them that it wasn't the same thing at all but they just weren't getting it. I was like, man...f*** mma lol.

Yeah I get why they pulled him. There may be more reasons than we really know about too, but I really feel like UFC has been pretty respectful of WWE Wrestlers in the past when they've been in the audience.
In fact I remember Rogan excitedly saying, We've Got WWE Superstars in the House Tonight!! Taker and Batista (I think it was Batista) During a Lesnar fight.

UFC should be happy about this. Think of the ratings hit they would take with punk on there like raw does.

The Royal Rumble is the night after UFC, it's not on the same night. I don't feel angry about this at all, I just feel a bit dissapointed about not seeing Punk come out with Chael. WWE misses a free PR opportunity, and given Vince's MO is any publicity = good publicity it's pretty silly to pull him. Ah well, Chael is entertaining enough on his own, he doesn't need Punk.

Would Dana White give one of his fighters the night off from a previously scheduled fight to go and sit in the front row of a WWE show? Vince did agree to give him the night off already. Then rescinded. That's the argument. If it was a matter of Punk wanting to drop the live WWE Event, and Vince saying "No", I'd agree with Vince, because Punk was contractually obligated to be there. But he was cleared. He was told it was ok. Then Vince changed his mind two weeks later, giving no reason, and even forbid him to attend the event itself.

Don't like 10 or more people walk someone to the ring at a UFC show? Especially a main event? You probably wouldn't even see CM Punk, and even if you did, it'd just be "ZOMG IT'S PUNK! YAY!" and that'd be it. AKA who gives a shit? I doubt he'd be acknowledged or anything so it's pretty much pointless.

Its CM Punk. Who knows CM Punk outside of wrestling? Very few it seems like. If this were Cena, or 'Taker then I could see it happening but any other name seems like..'Oh, WWE? Yeah I watch that when I was in High School, they still show Nitro? I gotta see that again sometime!' Which is THE ENTIRE REASON YOU HAVE CM PUNK GO OUT THERE. People who don't know him will be like "That guy is the WWE champion nowadays? Interesting." Because he doesn't really fit the mold. And he's hanging with Chael. Maybe they'll get that something's changed in the WWE, and maybe, just maybe...they'll CHECK IT OUT, now that they know who CM Punk is. Holy s***. And then they'll see a fat man dancing around in a red jumpsuit and immediately tune back out.

Maybe Vince's waffling will be done as some sort of thing for a reality show for the WWE Network.
Vince: "Punk. You can have the night off to go to the UFC show in Chicago and walk Chael Sonnen to the cage."
Punk: "That's awesome! Thank you so much sir. It's gonna *Vince interrupts mid-sentence*
Vince: "PSYCH BITCH!!!!"
*Vince two-gun salutes the camera and a giant graphic pops up with words 'PSYCH BITCH!!!'*

I don't think the WWE Champion should appear as an escort/valet/whatever for a UFC fighter. This. I mean, I see why they don't want him to go. I don't think Vince (or whoever told him not to go) was trying to be a dick. They were just trying to protect their champion from looking second rate to UFC. Granted, this could have ended up being free publicity for WWE but I can see why they don't want him to go. I'm sure if Punk wasn't WWE Champion, this wouldn't be an issue.

Again, the insecurity here is astounding. People seriously think Punk's gonna look second rate by walking next to a UFC fighter in his street clothes? Goddamn.

It's not insecurity, it's being cautious. Yeah, there is a possibility that this could gain WWE some exposure but at the same time, it does kinda make your company look second rate if your top champion is someone else's valet/manager/person that he walks down to the ring with. There are some positives to this but there are also some risks and WWE simply does not want to take that risk.

Floyd Mayweather had 50 Cent RAP HIS THEME NEXT TO HIM during his walkout. Pacman had Undertaker. Boxers/MMArtists have celebrity guests in their entourage. Having the WWE Champion associated with you could be a great shot in the arm for said WWE Champion. Combat sports dont adhere to the "valet/manager" principle that wrestling does.

I can't speak for the majority of people, but I always viewed celebrities in a fighter's entourage as pretty damn cool. Like, "Look, he has the support of *insert famous person here*." So yeah, I totally agree with your post.
