In the fact that it's a first hero movie, but it's not really an origin flick. It's like the film starts, and here's Batman already kicking ass.
Now it's obviously very early in his carer, but there's never the set up of how he came to be. Eventually they do do the "my parents are dead" aspect but it's used more as back story for Joker than anything else, the merit of which being debatable of course.
It just seems like a weird thing to me, I guess they just assumed (correctly) that everyone knows all this stuff and just want to see Batman and not Bruce Wayne guy in training.
Which kind of makes me ponder what Batman Begins did.

The really odd thing about it is that they use the Arliss guy as a protagonist for a while and he's so boring.

That's the weird part for you and not the fact that this Batman kills an entire group of people?

That's the weird part for you and not the fact that this Batman kills an entire group of people? The fact that Batman has no problem killing people almost trivially never set well with me in the Burton/Shumacher movies.

I just assume they were going back to the original Bill Finger version of Batman who said that Batman not killing and having recurring villains undermined the whole concept of his "war on crime".

He killed Two-Face in Batman Forever. Two-Face tossed up his coin, Batman threw up a bunch of others, Two-Face scrambles, trying to find his, and falls to his death. His death was caused by his falling, but he wouldn't have fallen without Batman's influence, there.

It wasn't like 89 (hurricanrana into an abyss) or Returns (bomb in a goon's pants), but I guess you can count it, Though, since his suit was in Arkham in "& Robin", either the people in Arkham love to grave rob, or Two Face survived somehow.

His death was caused by his falling, but he wouldn't have fallen without Batman's influence, there. And given what we've seen, Batman could have easily grappled him if he chose to. Kind of like the Ice Princess in Batman Returns actually, guess he wasn't feeling his oats that day when he let her fall to her death right in front of him.

who did he kill it Batman 89? The random goons in the factory he bombed, along with the black guy he tossed down the stairs after he knocked him into the bell, and apparently 1 of the two goons did die from the opening. Also, Joker himself, at the end.

Funny how the only movie that Batman hadn't killed any goons in was Batman & Robin.
Hell, even the 1966 Batman movie had him kill people, with those rehydrated goons in the Batcave.

Both the Keaton Batman films have a morbid edge to them, especially given they seem to be one of the few non-comic portrayals that suggest Batman just might be insane for doing what he does, and that's something Wayne seems aware of.

Also, Joker himself, at the end. While he didn't kill Joker with the Batplane, he blatantly fired twin guns straight at him - there could only have been homicidal intentions there. Batman '89 is a flawed movie but it carries a lot of sentimental value to me and I'm sure much of my generation. It was a staple of our childhoods, and I think that sometimes clouds my generation's perception of it versus the Nolan films. That said, it did also have Jack Palance, which automatically gives a movie a few points, down to and including Angels' Revenge.

I wasn't bothered by the killings. It worked if you view it as a homage to the original Batman concept. Hell I believe its early in his career enough that killing is something that doesn't bother him as much as it does down the road.
