seriously. one of those guys that really didn't need to talk to get over. him and benoit both. saturn and malenko wouldn've made one hell of a classic tag team... but, apparently wwe creative would rather see a guy tagging with cleaning supplies. mannequins. reebok pump sneakers. guh. what is saturn up to these days?

He had a series of awesome vignettes for four weeks leading up to his debut. Personally I think they were the best "introduction" promos WWE has ever made. Then he made his debut on Raw. It was pretty nifty. He came through the crowd and had an entrance similar to X-Pac, where his titantron video was spliced into the live footage of him coming out, so the screen alternated between video and live. The screen also went red. They kept this for 2-3 weeks, then it stopped. I remember he got a decent pop, but the match wasn't very memorable. Does anyone have any footage of Edge's debut I can get? Any early Edge footage at all?

I remember Rey Mysterio's WWE debut being good.
But you would probably have had to know his background.

I remember Rey Mysterio's WWE debut being good. But you would probably have had to know his background. Oh man, that was one of my favorite Smackdowns EVER. I tuned in JUST for Rey-rey. And he deliviered. He had the pop-up entrance (pimp) and he flew around with Chavo for a while until he ended with the 619 (which was his taunt turned into a real move) and the Springboard Hurricanrana. Which he hasn't done in forever. I'm mad now. But I'm happy again, because I just remember that he reappeared later that night and jumped off a cage.

i was excited as hell when the radicalz showed up... but disappointed after seeing perry saturn flounder. "moppy"? crap. but that's already been established. what a waste of a good worker. they shoulda let him keep the DVD. I was thinking they'd push him when he beat Eddie for the European title... then he started feuding with Al Snow... then he lost to William Regal and was kept in lower midcard hell on Heat... then he was part of that Dean Malenko stalking Lita angle and jobbed to the Hardyz... then he went insane and started talking nonsense and made friends with a mop. A frickin' mop. This is the man who won a match in ECW on a broken freakin' leg [/Kurt Angle voice]. No respect I tell ya. Saturn was stuck with the Moppy/You're Welcome gimmick as punishment because he worked stiff on a jobber named Mike Bell (I remember all the "Ring my Bell" jokes from back then) and beat the crap out of him because he botched a spot.

if he was main eventing, he wouldn't have been in the ring with a jobber.
that's the gospel.
nah. just more rhetoric. but i still say.....

Saturn was crap anyway. Totally overrated by the internet.
Here's some other decent debuts: Owen "The Rocket" Hart , Val Venis, and Stephanie Wyand.

The Heart Throbs debut was memorable to me mainly for two reasons: Without any notice, we all of a sudden have two guys popping up on screen, doing the ambiguously gay duo thing. And second, the looks on Tajiri and Regal's faces. Regal's the man.

Kane was the best. I mean, that was built for months on end. It started right after the Revenge of the Taker In Your House Pay Per View in April after The Undertaker burnt Paul Bearer. And it went on for months, and months, and during the feud with Shawn Michaels, you knew about it, but forgot just enough to not expect Kane coming down to beat up The Undertaker.
Other good debuts were Chris Jericho, which was built up really well. Same with Tazz. The best debuts were the ones built up extremely well.
The worst. Ultimo Dragon. Built up as this Japanese wrestling legend was then jobbed out. Sean O'Haire had some of the best vingettes, but debuted so horribly and just dropped off pretty quickly.

Are we counting WCW debuts as well? If we are Scott Hall's debut was huge. We all knew Kevin Nash was the "big surprise", but anybody powerbombing Bischoff through the stage should have held the IWC's love forever.

Sean O'Haire had some of the best vingettes, but debuted so horribly and just dropped off pretty quickly. I was a massive fan, to start with..... I thought those vingettes were superb and i was really hyped up then creative seemed to forget what they had planned for him or more probably created these awesome vingettes without thinking about what feuds, storylines and matches he would have. They dumped him with a past-it Piper which dragged his career down and Piper's firing left him lost and without much of a gimmick since upon his 'Active' debut him having even a personality was all but ignored. That just annoys the hell out of me, so much potential and they totally blew it!

A debut that really didn't work for me was that of "The Ringmaster." I just didn't know what to make of the character. He was just annoying.
And that's the bottomline, cause "The Ringmaster" said so!

The Sandman's return to ECW after being Hak for a while. That ruled.
Tajiri in ECW as well. Me, the casual American fan, never heard of him at all, He comes to the ring, I have no idea what to make of the guy, then he completely kicks the crap out of everyone.

Whitetaker's (aka Mordercai) debut sucked, mainly because I felt he was just ripping off Undertaker.
