My problem with Cena has been my problem with the way the product in total has been. For example, Punk during his face run feuded with Jericho, Ziggler, and Mark Henry. In all of those feuds he looked vunerable, struggled, took their offense and didn't shrug it off, and actually made them look credible.
Cena takes a lot of punishment and seems to just shrug it off. I could understand if he looked like say Taker, Hogan, Rock, and Austin where visually they looked like they could take an ass kicking and come back fighting harder. Cena, in my opinion, just looks like a regular guy who wouldn't last in a real fight.
I think a lot of fans wouldn't be sick of him if they humanized him and actually showed him struggling.

This is a regular looking guy (I know because I literally typed "regular looking guy" into google and this was the first result. This is John Cena. I know you probably meant by wrestling standards, but even then I wouldn't consider him regular looking. The first thing I usually notice when Cena and Punk are in the same ring is that Cena looks way more intimidating looking.

Cena the man seems like a good man. Cena the character is quite insufferable at times. However we've had about 7 plus years of face Cena. I bet even John Cena the man wants to turn now.
The positive side to this is when Cena does turn (if written well) it's going to be devastating.

I should've elaborated more with my statement. When compared to Hogan, Savage, Rock, Austin, or Foley Cena just looks like a regular guy who, in my eyes, doesn't really represent the factor of being larger than life. To be fair, neither Punk or Cena look intimidating. Unless you want to use SES Punk when he looked like a scary evil Jesus.

The only reason he doesn't always look it is because of the way his character comes across on screen. But even then, the man is hugely powerful and has performed amazing feats of strength in the ring with a ridiculous threshold for pain. That's what makes him larger than life.

Oh, and there's also the report of him saying that he didn't want to lose any matches between Survivor Series of 2011 (IIRC) and his 'Mania match with Rocky, because he didn't want to look weak. That supports the theory. If its true, it's probably a good thing. Didn't Rock win the SS match for their team? With as big a build-up and the event it was supposed to be, why would you want a top star losing?I'm not crazy in thinking that the WWE would want them both to seem unbeatable, am I? All that proves is that the guy who is 15th on the list of "most wins" still got more WWE Title shots than anyone else on the list. I don't think this is a fair point. Mind you, I only have PPV info in front of me, but Cena got 3 title matches in 12 months. Jericho had two WWE title matches, and a WHC match. Sheamus also had three competing for the WHC (I'm not counting his defenses). Del Rio had four attempts at the WHC. Daniel Bryan, higher up on that list, had 3 WWE title matches, and a rematch for the WHC (excluding his time holding it).

I'm less charitable and interpret it more as Cena just not wanting to lose, like he wouldn't want to lose even if he hadn't been feuding with Rocky. And in this case he had an excuse for asking not to lose. Btw, that whole thing was stupid. Rocky costs Cena the title at WrestleMania, and if Cena gives a shit about the title at all then you'd think he would want a match with Rocky ASAP. But instead, they decide to wait a whole year before fighting one another. Because I totally believe one guy wants to kick another guy's ass if he says "Let's wait a year." (Before somebody makes the Sting comparison and how he wanted to kick Hogan's ass in 1997, that was different because Sting was initially too demoralized to do anything more than watch from the rafters, and slowly, gradually, began regaining his confidence and will to fight.) Why not make Cena vs. Rocky the main event at WM 27 instead of Cena vs. Miz? Or why not have the Cena vs. Miz title match happened on Raw and have Rocky interfere then, leading to Cena vs. Rock at WM 27? Hell, even just having the two of them brawl in the ring before getting pulled apart, having Rocky disappear back to Hollywood, and return a year later to challenge Cena a month before WM 28 would've made more sense.

Guys like batista are stronger than Cena. No he isn't, not even close. Cena's strength is absolutely unreal, and only guys like Cesaro and Big E come close in recent years to it. Batista was just big, in the same sense that Ryback is.
