Swagger is definitely someone who could benefit from a good mouthpiece, so this might work. If they don't get too over the top with it, that is.

It got very little reaction in Nashville. I know I've said this 100K times but I really wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being a 1 off, even if it wasn't supposed to. It had the same effect as the pipebomb promo in that it got me to listen, in a "wow, they're actually doing this?" kind of way. So yeah, it was a good promo, but at the same time, it could easily end up a wrestlecrap quality angle. Plenty of people are tired of politics and just don't want to hear it. It wasn't done in the campy JBL "JR Ewing" kind of way. It was pretty raw. Yeah, I as kinda expecting the Nashville crowd to have a little face reaction to that promo.

Seems they're building to Del Rio/Swagger at Mania. The promos need to be strong for that one, and I'm sure Dirty Dutch will deliver.

So since it was Nashville I take it they got the name Colter from singer Jessi Colter who was married to Waylon Jennings who lived in Nashville when he blew up which is close to where Dutch is from and took place around the same time he was around his 20's.

With his current look, if he shortened the 'stache by about fifty percent, Dutch would look eerily like my father.
Nice to see the WWE giving him a role. We need more managers, and he seems a great fit for Swagger's new direction.

I was like "Zebekiah?". Then I learned it was Dutch Mantell.
I have to say... Kudos for continuity. I almost completely forgot about that character. That's some straight up New Generation callback.
Almost as random as Lupus from Hardcore Justice.

Almost as random as Lupus from Hardcore Justice. Can you imagine if they kept doing it? Without going too far into politics here, we could have a follow-up stable of mid-90s gimmicks who lost their kayfabe jobs to people who "came here and took them." Can you imagine a destitute, militant Duke Drose and cleaned up and angry TL Hopper coming to join Swagger in the coming weeks?

Every ones talking about the possibillity of him getting cheered in the south but I 'm waiting to see how a DelRio/Swagger feud would play out across the Southwest, the border states. I'm thinking both sides having serious "Cena Heat." It could get ugly. It could be amazing.

Never heard of this guy before but I liked him. He very good on the mic and has a good look to him as well.

Seeing him come out with Swagger was my favorite part of RAW last night. I'm in Canada with a 15 minute delay, so when I saw "Dutch Mantel" trending I became scared somethng bad had happened to him. Did not expect him to appear on RAW. It was a pleasant surprise.

Wait, that really is Dutch Mantell? Holy crap, I thought people were just saying that because he had a long mustache. I've been watching and known who Dutch was for over 20 years, and I didn't even recognize him.

As I said in the first thread bout Jack n.Zeb, it's easy enough to not have them cheered anywhere, by havin them attack EVERYONE for turning their backs on "Real" America.

To me it really does seem like WWE is throwing Dutch a bone and that Swagger doesn't really need him. Still, I really hope it works. Swagger REALLY needs him. I had zero interest in him until last night. Now I'm interested because he actually has a character/gimmick.

It's weird how well they toed WWE's new "offend no one" line. They just talked about people who aren't "real Americans" and about "our borders" without singling out any specific groups or saying anything specific at all. At the same time, though, it was vague enough that just about any group could take it to be against them. Great heel work.
Good job WWE, you surprised me.

Are they acknowledging him as his old character? The manager of bradshaw and the blu brothers. Damn I feel old for remembering them.

Dude's a legend for a reason. He's got a good mind for the business and mic skills to boot, and with how far Swagger's fallen a little Zeb might be what he needs.

Doesn't Mantel work for them in FCW? Or worked in developmental for WWE at some point. Also.. I'll approve this gimmick entirely if all does is run down Canadians for sneaking over here, and pretends like Mexico doesn't exist.
