Doesn't Mantel work for them in FCW? Or worked in developmental for WWE at some point. I don't think so. I bet he is local to Nashville or close enough. I remember him giving some interviews following the death of his grandfather and he spoke about involvement in indy promotions/legends shows, but he wasn't working with WWE developmental. I'm sure you are aware (since you follow WWE home videos) that he was involved in WWE's production of the Stone Cold DVD/BD set recently.

And after some quick research it turns out he was a writer for TNA.

Dirty Dutch was around during the good period with the Knockouts in TNA. In his guest booker, he put over a lot of the women, most notably, Awesome Kong. I think he and Scott D'Amore were the main guys booking them and you could say that it all went downhill after he was given the boot.
In the guest booker, he wanted to feud Kong with Hamada. On his pay per view he wanted, he would have also had a second women's match with the Beautiful People vs Taylor and Roxxi. This of course was all a theoretical excersise, but he seemed to want to push them.
It was also his idea (also according to Bill Behrens) to put the women at the 5th quarter hour to get some ratings for that quarter, as it's normally the highest. The logic was people would stick around for the hot women, but Dutch made sure to book decent angles so it's not just oh, boobs, now let's try something else.
And I'm not intending to blow the guy, he probably did some shit too, he no doubt did, but the KOs were the best they ever were with him booking. Also, when I went to Lance Storm's wrestling school, there was this one guy in the class who looked like Dutch.

I've always been a huge fan of Dutch Mantell. I'm happy to see him back on camera.

I forget who mentioned the cowboy hat thing, but until I'd stuck one on him in my head, I was struggling. Then I was like "HOLY SHIT IT'S DIRTY DUTCH!"

I'll admit I don't know who he is. Swagger has always needed a manager/mouthpiece, and I like this guy's look but wow his promo was so racist.

Zeb Coulter/Dutch Mantel wrestled for decades, getting started in 1973. He was a manager in WWE as Uncle Zebekiah, managing Bradshaw and the Blu Brothers, among others. Coulter was a writer and booker for TNA and helped bring the Knockout Division into prominence. Ironically, in light of this new gimmick, he was a writer/booker/producer for WWA in Puerto Rico for years, finding a lot of success there. He did a very entertaining podcast episode with Colt Cabana where he was equal parts conspiracy nut and articulate story teller.

So since it was Nashville I take it they got the name Colter from singer Jessi Colter who was married to Waylon Jennings who lived in Nashville when he blew up which is close to where Dutch is from and took place around the same time he was around his 20's. Nope, apparently they did get it from Ann Coulter, then just changed the name. I didn't get a good look at first and initially thought it was Brad Maddox in fake whiskers, then during the post-match promo I looked and immediately thought "Dutch?". I was pretty sure that promo would get complaints (since everyone is incredibly sensitive towards racism), but it looks like it didn't.

Dirty Dutch is local to middle Tennessee. Poor guy lost his teenage granddaughter last year or 2011 when a drunk driver hit her. He held a tribute show in Murfreesboro (about 45 mins south of Nashville) and he has also been pushing for a new law to be stricter on repeat felony offenders. I am very happy to see him on tv and hope he gets more than a one off with Swagger.

Doesn't Mantel work for them in FCW? Or worked in developmental for WWE at some point. Also.. I'll approve this gimmick entirely if all does is run down Canadians for sneaking over here, and pretends like Mexico doesn't exist. I would love a rambling angry promo about Ilegal frostbacks sneaking across the boarder stealing good american jobs like hockey players and migrant lumber jacks. Dirty stinkin Canuckle heads. Have them feud with Jericho and Christian, The Canadian (five second pose) Defenders. I'd even bring back Lance Storm on a short term legends contract. Anybody on NXT who'd be ready/good for a third on Team Real America?

Anybody on NXT who'd be ready/good for a third on Team Real America? Not NXT, but since Ted DiBiase and Alex Riley aren't doing anything (and are also from Mississippi and Virginia, respectively), I would align them with Zeb as a "picture of what a real American tag team should look like".

i actually at first thought it was mick foley in a bad wig and stuff but when they said Zeb i immediately thought of Uncle Zeb and of course Dutch. I remember when he was Dirty Dutch but he was in the south in the 80s and all so i really never got to see him wrestle (pre internet , all we had was the monthly PWI) so what was his gimic? Also did he ever to color commentary for Superstars of Challenge back in the days pre Uncle Zeb...for some reason i remember him going back and forth with vince on the mic

Nope, apparently they did get it from Ann Coulter, then just changed the name. Where has it been confirmed that's where they got the name? Since she's famous I can see where people think its based off her but there is no reason to change the name if it is. In the 2000 census there were 20,252 people using the Coulter version in the US to just 3,436 with the Colter version WWE is using. I also find it peculiar they went with the lesser known national version in Nashville where that version is well known due to Waylon Jennings' famous wife making the name a household name in the area around the time Dutch was in his 20's also living not to far from Nashville.

Are they acknowledging him as his old character? The manager of bradshaw and the blu brothers. Damn I feel old for remembering them. Yeah, they are, and it's a great bit of continuity from a company that tends to ignore that as fiercely as it can. what is the best part of it is that of all storylines that the wwe writers could of come up with to acknowledge something from the past they pick the most random character to bring back. Never in a million years did think I would ever hear Uncle Zeb name on wwe tv again
