That's the first time a series trailer has hit and I haven't been that excited. All the news of the cuts and the changes has me feeling a bit cold for this year Isn't it now about A Feast For Crows? Wasn't the majority of that Cersei and the Dorne Princess being dummies, and the Ironborn stupid psychotics? pretty much. after reading The World of Ice and Fire I still don't understand how the Ironborn weren't just wiped out 200+ years ago. it's an entire culture of suicidal lemmings on boats.

It's probably because exterminating them would result in a total war, and with a Medieval army, that kind of thing just isn't sustainable. All the knights in Westeros wouldn't be enough to kill that many people, and the levies would mutiny after a while.

Since they don't farm (their damn motto) they'd eventually die out.

Since they don't farm (their damn motto) they'd eventually die out. Good luck finding a navy that would be big enough to do that without dissolving. Most of the vessels to pull off a blockade would probably be merchant ships and fishing boats, which wouldn't be able to stand up to Ironborn ships. And most of the merchants and fishermen would either demand a ridiculous amount of money for using their boats as warships, or would desert and go home.

I have hated the iron born gimmick since I first read it. Boring, ineffective and drains the plot dry. The only thing they did in the war was a sideshow that hurt Rob Stark. They had no chance from the start. They executed a feint for Tywin Lanister and it did exactly what his force would have done in a feint. Rob Stark would be within a post winter's march of Kings Landing If the iron born would have just stayed home. And as far as Uron or Victarion go I skip those chapters as soon as I see the name. Danarys will use his Navy and kill him with fire.

They remind me of Al Bundy, instead of talking about 4 touchdowns in a single game, they're talking about when they used to rule the Riverlands.

I asked an artist friend to make me up a Stark themed hurley. Picked it up today and really pleased with how it turned out. Figured I'd share it here. (Using spoiler tag so as not to stretch the screen) Hurling's an ancient Irish sport that's still played today, and the hurley is the 'club' that's used in it. Also, a ridiculous amount of money is worth it to get rid of the drowned douchebags.

Reading back over the books has made me realize "Damn, the ironborn really do f*** things up royally for everyone."
It was the ironborn who f***** over Robb by taking Winterfell and forcing him to have to rely on the Boltons to take it back. Had that not happened, Roose Bolton would never have even considered turning on Robb. Even after the failed siege of King's Landing.
I don't see them as much of a threat no matter how much George tries to convince me that they are. Why? Because outside of The Reader, the ironborn are dumb as shit. They've not strategy to their warfare. That's why Stannis beat them in the ironborn rebellion with a really simple strategy.

They lost all their holdings gained in the second rebellion, often by flaying. The only success they have is piracy. Yes, they are doing better than the Starks and Tullys, but that's not saying much.

Actually, I think Stannis did more to kick them out of The North, but whatever. And everybody does better then the Tullys. Oh, the poor, poor Tullys.

I dunno guys, I'm starting to get the real feeling that this story is going nowhere. You've obviously never read the books. If you'd have, you'd KNOW this story is going nowhere.

To be fair, they haven't been major players, but more characters whose stories just sorta ended or fizzled out. Daenarys's handmaiden, sure. But Arya's safe. Though... I could see Little Finger.
