The Ironborn are basically idiots, sure they look threatening at first but any gains they do get they quickly squander and lose. They can't ever get any long term gains due to their mentality and stubborness to change ways.
What I'd like to see in the show or the books is for a captured group to be taken and dumped on an island and hand them farming tools and when asked what they are for, someone like Stannis to simply reply.
"Sow or eat one another"

I think we've seen as much of the Ironborn as we're going to see in the show personally.

Obviously no spoilers, but the most important word in that sentence is the YET. Unless things go completely left field, they are about to be main players with whatever the current scenario is.

Unless things go completely left field, they are about to be main players with whatever the current scenario is. Thing is, that's just Martin. He likes to set up huge things and then subvert the audience's expectations, rendering them pointless. Renly is about to invade King's Landing! ...smoke baby. Oberyn Martell is going to expose the monarchy! Mountained. Robb Stark is about to invade King's Landing! Freyed. The Greyjoys are going to rule the North! Summarily kicked out. Daenarys is going to do things! Political bs. Dorne is going to do SOMETHING! HAHAAHAHAHAH! And... lots of that happened in books 4 and 5.

What I find funny was that due to Balon's stubborness and stupidity he himself screwed over any chance of actually making any progress due to alienate everyone around him.
Guy's a bloody idiot, don't know what made him think he could rebel the first time, let alone a second time.

Really? {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{ Book Spoilers}Theon and Asha (Or Yara or whatever) play a significant part yes but the show already has them established and their stories interweave with other already established characters. I just think they are going to drop all of Balon's brothers, the Kingsmoot, the raiding along the coast and them going to Mereen. Probably some of the best bits in books 4 and 5 I might add, but I can see the show just cutting all that out.

One moment... And that's why there are no cloakmakers in the Iron Islands.

Yeah, since they claim that they Do Not Sow and The Iron Islands is basically nothing with little to no Fertile fields on it, does that mean they don't fish either? What do they do for food then, Cannibalism?

To note, the whole "Do Not Sow" thing is only the Greyjoy's house words. The smallfolk do farm, fish and mine and pay with the gold price, the whole feverent belief in the Old Way is from some nobles and more fundamental drowned men.

Im rewatching season 4 on blu ray now, and the way they treat Barristan Selmy really annoys me. Ian McElhinney is fantastic and a great fit for the character, but doesnt really feel like Barristan the Bold. The writers keep giving Jorah and Daario scenes/lines that should be given to Barristan.
I know its only a small thing, but i got really annoyed when Barristan is talking about attacking Kings Landing and Dany then looks at Jorah and listens to what he says instead. Barristan is the greatest knight alive and has served numerous kings at KL, yet she continues to ignore him?
Its a shame because they did a great job with him in Season 1 (although i was disappointed that he wasnt on the small council). I really hope we get to see him show his fighting skills in Season 5

Season 4 blu ray shipped today!
Here is how awesome Amazon is. I preordered it in July 2014. I thought I didn't get the release day price because my account was charged 37 rather than 34. I got on a live chat with an Amazon rep, and he explained that that was due to the sales tax. I forgot completely that Amazon started collecting Illinois sales tax this month (BOOOO).
They credited me the (albeit small) difference anyway.

Ironboring, Asha is on the sidelines Theon isn't Theon Balon is dead Uron and Victarion are on the sea lanes to no where
That piece Martin is "setting up" in Mereen will likely end up with Dany claiming a navy and the focus shifting to her. God willing that will end the ironborn in ASOIAF

Anyone up for a dead pool on season 5? Obviously not book readers, since they know mostly what's going to happen.

I won't comment on a dead pool as a book reader...
Slightly off topic, but could we get the thread title changed to just simply 'Game of Thrones'?

Looking on at the trailer and unless I'm mistaken it looks like they are adapting out. {Spoiler}{Spoiler} Aegon Targaryen, as Varys makes no mention of him and instead references Danerys when talking to Tyrion. Don't tell me they're going to be doing that as he's a major character.

Jon Connington...I swear I never remembered even one mention of him in any book up until his latter emergence and Martin making it seem like Sting's finally appearing in WWE. Did I miss Ned going on a diatribe about the great warrior? Or did Martin just retcon a character into someone semi-interesting that he will just end up knocking off once he is popular?

Hey Martin, how about you quit imitating Orson Lannister and tell them to quit screwing up your work. Are they gonna adapt out The Manderly's revenge agaisnt the Freys as well?
