It's scary to think that the Spurs could someday be in the same situation as the Kings Hopefully Spurs fans don't have to ever know what the last 6 years have been like for Kings fans. Most diehard Kings fans are experts on the NBA ownership bylaws now and know way too much about arena negotiations. For the past three years city hall meetings and NBA board meetings have been more important than the games for Kings fans.

So, Brittney Griner in the NBA...yay or nay? In a league with Hasheem Thabeet, Travis Outlaw & other terrible players, I think she could do a decent job. I haven't seen many of her games, but is she strictly a post player? Not to sound sexist, but the worst NBA player ever would absolutely destroy the best WNBA player and it wouldn't even be a competition. It's like how if the BCS National Champion played the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Jaguars would win by four touchdowns. If Griner went to the post in the NBA, she'd get eaten alive by players bigger, stronger and more athletic than her. She's 6-foot-8 and can barely dunk, she's reached an incredible level of success, but it's against other women. Then again, I don't know if we're entirely sure Griner is a woman. Have you seen her/heard her speak? It's like the worst Juwanna Mann impression ever.

She's a 6'8 210lb post player.
Are there any comparable dudes that size at that position? 210 sounds like a featherweight.
I hope she gets drafted and makes a team. Just because I'd love to see what happens.

According to twitter there aren't any Seattle fans outside the hotel where the meeting is taking place. Maybe they don't like being screamed at? I imagine if anybody showed up with Sonic's Gear they would be in a very uncomfortable place. What, like the back of a Volkswagen?

It seems like only one city is really fighting to own this NBA franchise. Ps. Mayor Kevin Johnson has arrived at the Regis Hotel.

Fighting for Keeps is in a different league than "fighting to maybe get something". The Kings fans feel like they 'need' to keep fighting because it's the only option they really have. Seattle has more options. Wait for another franchise to come knocking (which will happen if this falls through), or wait out an expansion (that I hope never happens. Too bloated of a league already)

Maybe Seattle thinks there's no real chance that they won't get it, going back to how the Sonics left. It could be that the fans feel the league owes them one

It could be that the fans feel the league owes them one So far it seems like the City of Sacramento is a lot more invested/passionate about keeping the Kings than the City of Seattle was about keeping the Supersonics. This says nothing about the fans as Kings fans and Sonics fans are/were both really passionate about keeping their team. But the powers-that-be in Sacramento seem to have a lot more planned for the future of their team than Seattle's.

Seattle has great fans, but when the Sonics left it wasn't as big of a deal because they still have the Mariners, Seahawks, and now the Sounders. Update: Props to the one Sonics fan that showed up.

I'd bet money that if you went through and looked for highlights of EVERY game that every team has played over the course of a season, you could find 6-7 plays (just like in the ones in the video) where the refs blow a call and it favors the other team. You could probably make a similar video for all 29 of the other teams showing the refs unfairly giving them the advantage based off of a handful of plays over the course of 82 games. I think for the most part that's probably true, with the exception of the Rubio play, which did get scrutinized a bit for not being called. Then again, the conspiracy theorist part of me will always be hung up on the '02 Western Conference Finals. Besides, it's not like I have a lot of other basketball stuff to focus on right now. The Pistons are at that point in the season where I almost want them to lose to improve their draft chances. I view it differently. I definitely believe 2000 and 2002 were definitely rigged for the Lakers. My stance on it has changed somewhat in years, but with the way the league, officials, and media exports favor the big market teams you can't help but question certain things. When push comes to shove it's really about the flavor of the season. Every so often you have the underdog team that overcomes bad officiating, circle jerk media of the big superteam, and dirty tactics of the opposing team. For every Miami Heat or Los Angeles Lakers a team like the Spurs, Pistons, or Mavericks play lights out and take them down. As far as fixed is concerned? I think the only years the NBA playoffs/championships were rigged was in 2000, 2002, 2006, and 2012 honestly.

From what I gathered from watching Seattle's press conference is that they don't look very confident. The buzz on twitter is suggesting that I'm not alone in this feeling. They dodged several questions especially ones about a time frame on building the arena and how long they were in negotiations with the Maloofs.

So what you're saying is that most times a big market team is in contention of winning, the NBA rigs it to be that way? In that case, the NBA's been rigged since the start.

n what may be a surprise development to some given Seattle’s head start on the arena building process, sources say that in Wednesday’s meeting and in the coming weeks, Chris Hansen’s group will reveal that they have “very little chance” of opening an arena before the 2017-18 season due to expected challenges under environmental law.

It's still too early to call, but it's looking better for Sacramento! Also Sacramento just finished up presenting and should have a presser in 10-20 minutes.

Why is it that Miami, population 400,00, gets lumped into "big markets" while Dallas, population 1.2 million, gets to go in with the small market teams?
Success is not the same thing as being in a big market. Nashville, Oklahoma City, Sacramento, and Atlanta are all larger markets than Miami is.

This is the first I"ve heard of this! It's, like, the fifth largest market in the US
