I think that, creatively, people cheering Punk is hurting his angle.
Firstly, I think if you like Punk's work at the moment then you should be booing him anyway, given that unlike many of his and other people's heel runs he's been basically wrong about shit fairly often.
Secondly, if him heeling it up over a man's legitimate death doesn't get you booing him in a feud against a man who is now impossible to turn heel, I don't know what will.
Thirdly... people not booing him is part of what's making him resort to the really annoying cheap heat bullshit that a lot of people are sick of. People are cheering him despite him doing the sports team mocking crap that Foley used to get over as a face with. Creatively, it is bad for Punk to cheer him because WWE is desperate for you to boo him. He has been a heel since Raw 1000, no matter what people were claiming at the time, so can we just all accept that and then maybe he can start being good on the mic again instead of talking crap about sports teams?
So if you like Punk, can you please boo him? Not you the forumers, necessarily. The WWE universe, I guess?
Rant over.

You have to cheer greatness, I'm sorry in the name of people who shout "CM Punk".

True.
If you wanna support the heel then boo them. Heels feed off boos and faces feed off cheers. The bad guy likes to be booed so boo him when he does bad things.

The fans who cheer for him are the same types of fans who were cheering when he turned heel in ROH after winning the title. Sometimes, you got those guys who think they're smarter than your average wrestling fan so they come off acting like they're above rooting for what is being asked of them. There's nothing you can do about those types of fans. They feel that because they paid a ticket, they can root for whoever the hell they want.

That will happen when you turn your #2 face heel. I think heel turns should generally be done when a face has lost steam and needs a rehaul.

This is such a fine line though, because the cheers are protesting that he turned heel in the first place. People are refusing to stop cheering for him, and that's their right.

Or maybe people just like CM Punk and it has nothing to do with think they're "above" anything. I never get the "if you actually like them, you should boo em" I should be able to cheer for who I like regardless of face or heel.

I think a lot of people cheer for him out of spite for how forced his heel turn was to begin with.

People cheer for Punk for much the same reason people boo Cena. Like real sports, people will cheer for who they like and boo who they don't. While wrestling doesn't really work that way, it's something that either has to be adapted to or ignored. In this case, WWE are just going to ignore it, as opposed to the Summer of Punk when they had little choice but to fully turn him.

I find it more enjoyable to honestly cheer someone I like than fake booing them. The point of the OP is that if you really want to show Punk respect, you should boo, and I get that too. This is what WWE gets for turning a super popular wrestler that was only getting more popular.

I will wait for your other thread about how people should stop booing Cena. I'm assuming it's coming, as by your logic, it should go both ways.

People can react however they choose, but it does seem strange to refuse to boo a heel you enjoy. If you like his work, why give him the reaction he does not want?

Next time I go to a show, I'm gonna try booing the heels. I never do it, I just cheer people I like. I think it'll be fun. The last show I went to was Mania 28 and I pretty much cheered everyone but Sheamus.

They feel that because they paid a ticket, they can root for whoever the hell they want. And can't they? This. I get that it's good to boo a heel that you like to "support" them, but there's nothing wrong with cheering for them either. After all, some of the greatest superstars came from fans going against who the WWE told them they should like/not like.

It's the problem when people cheer faces because they think its 'cool' or they like them
1) it's not cool 2) if you like them - boo them.
It's what they're there for, it's what they want, it's what their continued presence on television demands. Fans don't seem to get this. Like a few years ago people got behind Christian and started cheering him then became surprised when he soon disappeared from TV. He was performing a heel role. If he wasn't getting over as a heel - he didn't have a role.
It happens time and time again. If you like a heel and want to see more of them then cheering him is the absolute worst thing you can do. Yet it happens time and time again and time again they ask 'No fair, X was buried'. - Of course because they had a slot for a heel, wanted a heel - but you kept cheering.
It'll happen again, possibly not with Punk because he gets sufficient heat from the crowd but whomever it is, it will happen.
