I always thought the crowd who created the Fandango craze, while great, could potentially create a monster. And over the last few weeks we've seen crowds trying the same shit trying to get themselves over. The UK crowd tried the exact same stunts as had just been on TV a few weeks back (the football chants, chanting for the commentators, the Mexican waves) and it's getting irritating.
I get doing stuff during a Sheamus/Orton snoozefest. That made sense and it was genuinely funny and original. Now they're doing it during a Jericho/Ziggler match because they want to be seen on TV. It's not only completely unoriginal it's also damn insulting to the guys in the ring.
Cut it out, you dicks.

Still doesn't hold a candle to when WWE did it to themselves by having Austin chant "boring" to Lance Storm.
So no sympathy from me.

Why is it that whenever the crowd chants random things it always means they're trying to get themselves over?
I always think they're just having a little fun. It's harmless, really.

That Jericho Ziggler match wasn't all that exciting really. But how dare the crowd shit all over 2 internet favourites having a match nowhere near what they are capable of yet they are allowed to shit on 2 average workers having an average match.
And the crowd looked to be enjoying themselves and are entitled to do whatever the f*** they want within the limits of taste and decency.

Why is it that whenever the crowd chants random things it always means they're trying to get themselves over? A "We are awesome" chant kinda says it all. Whatever though. WWE encouraged it by pointing out how awesome they thought the NJ crowd was. Now others will try to get that same recognition, for better or worse.

Hell, I'd rather a crowd act all wacky and potentially annoy a few people as opposed to sitting on their hands all night and only cheering for one person.

I hated both crowds. I'm not gonna say they shouldn't do it or it's ruining wrestling, but I personally find it distracting and annoying when the crowd is reacting, but not to the stuff in the ring. I'd rather they didn't cheer at all.

No fun allowed at WWE events. Please sit quietly and don't chant anything. Anyone in violation of these rules is doing nothing more than trying to get themselves over.

Well I bet a fair few people were in both crowds and even those that weren't are influenced by the crowd culture in other UK sports. I doubt it will spread to the non-smark cities of America.
That Ziggler vs Jericho match was pretty poor by their standards but at least Jericho knew how to handle the situation, in any profession somebody who can deal with hecklers becomes more respected by the audience at large so it plays a valuable role. Look at the way Cena deals with the "haters" compared to people like AJ and Maddox that couldn't deviate from their scripts (probably because they were told not to), Cena comes out looking better while the other two looked much worse. Much the same could be said about Sheamus and Orton but to be fair to them that crowd wouldn't of cared no matter how they responded, at least Sheamus tried to get people back into the match. Another examplke us the difference between Big Show and Batista at the Hammerstein ballroom, the former won respect with the "You can't wrestle/I don't have to" exchange while Batista was roundly criticised for an unprofessional response.

I liked your post but I would never call Orton anything less than an above average worker. He's the shit, I'm telling ya.

How is it any more damn insulting when it's Jericho/Ziggler than when it was Sheamus/Orton? Because all the cool kids hate Orton and Sheamus.

Can we stop dealing in extremes here? Crowds are part of the show, and as such can add or take away from it. People are allowed to have different opinions about what kind of reactions they like. Sometimes chants can be obnoxious as far as enjoyment goes, just like silence can.

Hmmmm so the night after WrestleMania "darlings" get cheered and the crowd is the "best ever". Following week "darlings" get nothing and the crowd is "the worst ever" Even prompting a wwe should stop touring in certain spots thread. This past week crowd does a wave and they're "trying to get themselves over" Hmmm seems legit(rolls eyes).
First off that ziggler/jericho match wasn't even that good. I had no interest in it at all. None what so ever. Partly because i knew jericho was gonna lose. Other because i don't really care for ziggler. I don't care what a crowd does. If you pay your money to go to a wrestling event you can do whatever the F**K you want! You wanna wave be my guest. You wanna sit on your hands and text? Be my guest. I'll never understand why people B***H about what other people who pay their money does at an event. As long as they're not starting fights etc. WHO CARES!!!

The concept of a crowd "putting themselves over" is kind of alien to me.

The crowds that react accordingly to alignments and storylines are also really quiet unless it's involving a handful of guys, and even for them they're not nearly as enthusiastic as "these" types of crowds. The crowd is a huge part of wrestling, I don't know that I'd be a fan of crowds were so dead in the 90s. Bottom line, this whole split audience thing sucks, but both sides have a right to their opinion so it's not like anyone's "wrong". It's up to WWE to unify those fans.

Except for the fact that Jericho/Ziggler was awesome!! The part where Jericho got him in the Walls of Jericho, the crowd erupts, u think, bah gawd Ziggler's gonna tap and then Fandango music hits. I marked out hard for that. I hope these crowds are here to stay. The crowds are the best thing going in WWE right now and I wish to god I was joking about that but I'm not.
