There was some recent news that an eighth movie is planned. Not a huge shock. Gotta say, if they do an 8th movie I really would love if they'd just ignore that 7 took place. Have the end of 6 be the death of Hoffman and have Jill and/or Gordon be the main villain. I know it won't happen, but still.

The only reason I can think why I would watch another Saw film is to see what new bullshit the scriptwriters will pull out of their asses in order to try tie all the films together.

Yea they need to retcon 7 as some alternate timeline type of thing.
Keep Jill alive Mention gordon is alive but has moved on with his life BRING BACK DANIEL!! and revolve the movie around him

The biggest mistake they made IMO was killing Jill.
Everyone wanted to see Gordon but no one wanted him to be some sort of accomplise to JigSaw and well we know how that went down.
I feel if they make another they can fix that mistake...by keeping Gordon alive and leave that alone and then keep Jill alive and have Daniel go after her....with the implication that since JigSaw is no longer alive that he will reep his revenge on his only living successor for his fathers death.

{Spoiler}I always pondered the possibility maybe Jigsaw had Daniel in mind for a successor after seeing how he handled himself during the Traphouse.

But 7 can rot, Even I can't defend that shit.

7 isn't one of my favorites but I don't mind it's inclusion in the series. Still think a continuation can be done from there.

Can't believe this October the first Saw is turning 10. Hard to believe it's been that long already. Surprised a Blu-ray boxed set with all seven isn't being done to mark the occasion, but with all the new Blu-rays coming out this Fall I'm kinda glad. Maybe next year.
My ranking for the series will likely always stay the same:
2 1 6 5 4 7 3

I've seen up to...4 I think? I love the first one. Not usually a big horror fan but the story is awesome. Don't remember much of the other ones but at the time thought they were entertaining enough.

I liked the original Saw because it was a rare original concept in a genre laden with retreads, and it was more of a psychological thriller. From there the franchise just became a nonstop series of yuck fests.

The only way to really retcon 7 is to have {Spoiler}Jill's beartrap demise be a nightmare scenario. But in my honest opinion, the biggest mistake with the franchise was not letting it rest after the third film. The third film had the perfect cliffhanger, unique characters, and the introduction of Strahm was the perfect way to end it temporarily of course. The fourth film should've picked up where it left off and that is focusing on Jeff trying to find his daughter, along with Strahm attempting to help him, and eventually going from there. {Spoiler}Killing off Strahm was ANOTHER huge mistake. He was a great character, badass, smart, likable, and if you wanted to see anyone either capture or kill Hoffman it would've been him.

{Spoiler}Strahm definitely died too soon and early, I think. He felt like he had wasted potential.

First one is good, the rest are distinctly meh. Once it becomes that you can't escape the traps then it loses its purpose and becomes gore for gores sake.

1st one was just great. 2nd one I liked because (a) much more Tobin Bell, (b) the idea of him being in custody the whole time yet the whole movie was happening regardless of that, and (c) the timeline twist. I really liked the timeline twist in the 3rd-5th movies {Spoiler}that they were all pretty much happening at the same time . That was pretty clever. In fact, the whole series plays with the plot in decent ways that kept me interested. But they do become weaker movies as they go on. I remember rewatching the last movie recently and it was clear that the director wasn't getting good acting out of most of the people (except Tobin Bell, who could be Jigsaw in his sleep I think)...
