I love the first one, it's an amazing thriller.
The rest I haven't watched, I wasn't interested at the time, and i hate gore.
But last Halloween when people were doing retrospectives, I got into the characters and story, again. I don't really want to see the films, again, I hate gore, but they have this great universe and some interesting ideas, sounds like if they'd had a more compelling character take over after 4 it would have been a lot better.

If you liked the original, Saw II is definitely worth seeing. It's a little more violent but doesn't get too OTT with the gore and isn't even all that bloody or brutal except towards the very end. The way it delves into Jigsaw is very interesting.

I really enjoy the Saw movies, and I think they are really enhanced by being seen in a marathon.
I would rank them: Saw IV Saw VI Saw III Saw VII (only seen once, need to re-evaluate) Saw Saw II Saw V
The only ones I really don't care much for are II and V. I don't like how derivative Saw II was of Cube. I don't like Hoffman in any sense and that really bummed me out on V. The original is too plain for me, my favorite aspect of the series is how it has this massive sprawling continuity that expands further and further with each sequel.

I'm a fan as well, but I probably need to watch them again. Thinking about it now, all of them in between two and the last one blur into one.
That might say more about my memory though. I used to spend much of the films completely lost as to who was Hoffman and who was Strahm.
Overall, the first film was fantastic and despite how they cynically churned them out, I think the whole thing from beginning to end stands up and makes sense as a story.

The first Saw is actually one of the best thrillers released within the past decade, the twist caught everyone off guard and to this day still gives me chills. Two I really enjoyed as a guilty pleasure but then they started to rely on the gore as a crutch for the stories. Are the stories as bad as people say they are? Not really, but they're still entertaining somewhat.
Saw Saw II Saw VI Saw III Saw IV Saw V Saw 3D

I love how big of an event Saw was every year. October used to be an exciting month for me since I enjoyed the Saw films. There's a part of me that believes they should've had it end at Saw III for a while and once they fleshed out the story, characters, and outcomes then they should've brought it back. One of the main things I didn't like was how they killed off more of the interesting characters. {Spoiler}Let's be honest. There's no way Detective Matthews, Jeff, or Strahm should've died in any fashion.

Any franchise that gives Donnie... Donnie Wahlberg from The New Kids On The Block work, I'm a fan of.
If I had to rank them: Saw II Saw Saw VI Saw IV Saw III Saw VII 3D Saw V
Really the only two I didn’t enjoy were V and VII.

Only seen the first one, but really enjoyed it. Cleverly crafted story, good twists, well made. It also becomes doubly entertaining if you imagine the whole thing as a twisted version of The Crystal Maze, with Richard O'Brien playing his harmonica as he watches people fail challenges.

I feel as though the seventh is the weakest of the entire storyline in my opinion. They waited too long to reveal that you know who was still alive. That was a moment they could've revealed at the beginning of the second or at the end of the sixth film.

I'd definitely give the sequels a shot if you liked the original. They build upon the original storyline in a very interesting way.

One thing I will give Saw 5 credit for {Spoiler}{Spoiler}Is the cleverness of the theme Jigsaw had relayed to them with the traps.
The first trap all the keys were the same so they just needed one key to unlock all the collars instead of all trying to get their own individual keys.
The second trap the passageways were all designed to hold more than 1 person.
the 3rd all of them would have gotten one SMALL jolt not anywhere near enough to kill them...and the door would have opened.
And last the final trap would have required only 2pints of blood from each.

My problem with the Saw V traps is {Spoiler}If you were actually physically in the room during the second trap there's no way you wouldn't realize those holes could easily fit two people. I know that they were supposed to be assholes but I think even they would've been like "yknow... plenty of room here".

It's very interesting to see how the series evolved from your complex and yet simple at the same time thriller, to a thriller/gorefest with a unique and interesting storyline that I felt captivated people enough to make it to seven films. All of which were theatrical releases and box office success as well. {Spoiler}I remember how disappointed I was that Strahm was killed off in the fifth film. He was one of my favorite characters and was a badass on top of that as well. I would've had him barely escape the closing walls and be a rogue FBI agent that was hunting Hoffman.

The rest of the saw films (with the exception of VI which was somewhat decent) were shit.

I only saw the first 2, and neither one was amazing or anything, but they weren't terrible. I guess I preferred the first one since I felt for the characters more. The second had the best death through with the arm trap thing...what a shitty way to go.

Saw 1 was and still is a masterpiece with an ending I defy anyone to claim they saw coming.
2 wasn't bad
the series fell into an abyss until the final one.

The ending to the first one sadly got spoiled for me before I saw the movie. Must've been an incredible shock to see for the first time.
