All this Xbox One hate got me wondering: which console is the worst of all time? Or at least the worst you've ever owned?

CD-I is up there. Bad library, bad hardware.

Probably the Jaguar or the 3DO.
EDIT: CD-I is up there, too.

CD-I is up there. Bad library, bad hardware. Didn't help that it so poorly handled Nintendo licenses

The virtual boy. It's not enough for other systems to have a limited selection of games, this thing took it to another level and made sure you had to have it in a certain physical place or else suffer neck damage. All for a very cheap version of 3d effects limited to black and red.

Virtual Boy. The correct answer's always Virtual Boy.
But if you mean as far as "serious" consoles, I played some Jaguar games with a friend once and it was all fairly underwhelming.

If we can count handhelds, the Gizmondo is definitely one of the worst

For all the justified hatred the Virtual Boy gets, it actually did have a few really good games.
Fun fact: first ever Megaten game released in the US was for the Virtual Boy. Jack Bros.

You also have the N-Gage to contend with. That was a disaster.

Sega Saturn. None of the local places even carried games to rent, and I ended up having to switch to N64 after a year or two.

Being born in the mid 80's, I grew up in a time when NES was THE thing. So when you then inherit the good ol' Atari 2600, which by this point was 10 years outdated, you were going to be very very disappointed. I'd also contend the Odyssey 1.
All the other systems were too "rare" to really get involved with, outside of the CD-I which my friend had, which he claimed was "amazing"...I guess paying that much for something makes people think they got more than they actually did. Oh well.

As someone who actually had an Odyssey1 (and still kicking myself for selling it at a garage sale) I didn't think anyone else here would have even seen one. Heck, I remember one of our tvs had tape residue on the screen. bad systems, I would say CD-I or 3DO. worked at a game shop during the 16-bit era and we couldn't give that crap away. Jaguar was poorly handled, but I could play Tempest 2000 all day.

Virtual Boy. The only system where you could literally go blind after playing for a long time.

Gizmondo, the only console used as an investment scam, oh and the company who made it had connections to the Swedish Mafia.

Guardian Heroes was the greatest beat-em-up EVER. The worst system I ever owned was the Atari 5200. It was actually a lot of fun while it lasted, which unfortunately wasn't very long due to shoddy craftsmanship.

What was so bad about the N-Gage? I just remember a bunch of taco jokes and "You bought an N-Gage didn't you?" being a running joke at the time. For starters, it was a pain in the ass just to get games in and out of the system. You had to take the plastic cover off, then remove the battery pack. It wasn't very comfortable to use, either.
