I think they got "WWE Universe" from the trend of sports teams calling their fans "nations" about 8 years ago. You know, "Red Sox Nation" "Giants Nation" etc. In true Vince fashion, you've gotta go with something BIGGER than a nation, not just a world, but the UNIVERSE!!!
Cole's corporate speak is horrible, but it's even more annoying when he corrects himself, or corrects the other commentators. I remember recently JBL calling Naomi "one of the most exciting superstars we have" and Cole smugly said "Um, actually she's a diva."

I don't think this is on purpose, but I hate when Michael Cole calls Jericho attempting the Walls.
JERICHO, ROLLING HIM ONTO HIS BELLY, GOING FOR THE WALLS!
It's a f***ing stomach.

I seem to recall hearing at some point that Vince hates pronouns for some reason.
That would probably be up there if true.

John Cena could be in the ring while people are throwing garbage into it and they'd still call it a mixed reaction.

That reminds me of when JBL called them "ladies" and Cole corrected him, I guess Divas aren't women

All of it. I'm not kidding. All of it. And the fact that Michael Cole is the world's foremost orator of Vince McMahon's Dramatic Sports Entertainment Linguistical Leanings for DRAMA!!!!, it makes commentary that much harder to listen to. Can so and so capitalize? Larger than life! The greatest something something in WWe history. This moment! That moment! I've never seen this happen to this guy before! All of it. All. Of. It. MAN. I'm leaning towards this. To me it's not so much they use the corporate buzzwords, it's that there's no variation to when or how they use them. It's like anything said, especially when you've got commentary can be summed up with "fillerfillerfillerfiller*CAN HE CAPITALIZE?*fillerfillerfillerfiller*STRAIGHT TO THE SKULL!*fillerfiller*NO! NOT THIS WAY!*fillerfillerfiller*INTENSITY!*fillerfiller*NOT THE REFEREE!* (strangely, refs don't have names anymore)fillerfillerfiller*[PLUG ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED 4 MINUTES PREVIOUS]*" They're used the exact same way every time and it's just maddening. It really is like mindless corporate speak. MAYBE if you had people calling moves you wouldn't need to rely on spamming buzzwords to get people to pay attention. And "WWE Universe" really does sound like something somebody heard referring to Marvel or DC and decided that since those are kinda popular, they should use that term too, but have no damn clue of how it's actually used. Then they had the idea that if their fans are a "UNIVERSE" that just makes them sound huge and important. Like we a damn group of animals... Who else has a UNIVERSE of fans? I'm a part of the Prince Universe. One of the greatest entertainers of all-time!

I like "WWE Universe", what with the theory someone came up with that it refers to the parallel universe in which everyday problems can be solved with wrestling matches, with no interference from law enforcement.
