"Entertainers" instead of "wrestlers", it's often painful listening to Mean Gene on Vintage Collection (ie Bret Hart is one of the greatest entertainers of all time". That always makes me laugh. It sounds like he's a song-and-dance man. Well, he was in a musical.

Any word Cole uses to cover for the fact his knowledge of wrestling moves is severely limited. He rarely calls anything outside of signatures, finishers and moves people know the of name of since birth. Do we remember a former WWF/E announcer like that?

I'm still wondering what Cole telling us Lawler suffering from "anal bleeding" was covering up. "Entertainers" instead of "wrestlers", it's often painful listening to Mean Gene on Vintage Collection (ie Bret Hart is one of the greatest entertainers of all time". That's a bold-faced lie! We all know it was J-E-Double F (ha ha ha-a-a!) J-A-Double R-E-Double T!

I've always had a problem with "steel steps". Those things are diamond plate aluminum and everybody knows it. But then we'd have a forum full of embittered british people like myself ranting about how to pronounce "aluminium". "Steel steps" is a fair compromise. Or "Zinc platform", that would be cool.

Sky were showing a WWE Special the other day on the NWO, and Cody Rhodes said "the NWO turned WCW from a wrestling company....into an entertainment company" or some bollocks like that.

WWE Uiverse is the worst because of how forced and silly it sounds. most companies call their fans "the fans" instead of some made up nickname, even if the fans do have a fan nickname they use.
similarly, I cringe any time they use words like "Superstar", "Diva" or any other word that's a blatant and silly attempt to avoid saying "wrestlers" or "wrestling".

"Here in this very ring." Um, what other ring is there? "it'll be... some other night, in some other ring somewhere in bumblef*** USA. I hear Ian Rotten has a pizza oven, so probably wherever that is".

Yeah that's so strange how the announcers never just say "He's got a title shot this Sunday against Sheamus". It's "This up and coming Superstar has a Championship Opportunity this Sunday at Payback against The Celtic Warrior, Sheamus!"

Just imagining them saying that long, unwieldy sentence in my head makes my ears burn.

"Unforgiving steel concrete"
I believe Cole used this in an Elimination Chamber match describing the outside grate surrounding the ring.

The only people that speak/think that way are Michael Cole and Vince McMahon. I wish both of them would realize that it does nothing.

Calling cops "authorities." What's wrong with saying "cops"?

I don't mind the Superstar term at all. They shouldn't have a separate term for women though. Superstar is a substitute for wrestler, and female wrestlers are...wrestlers too, right? And if they must, "Diva" is one of the worst terms they could come up with. Diva has such a negative connotation, it may as well be called The Bitches Division.

I don't know if this counts, but I hate when the commentators say, "I was talking to [insert wrestler] earlier, and he told me [insert incredibly personal detail that was obviously made up on the spot]."

Are you trying to imply Kaval and Kofi didn't decide to team up because they went to gamestop and played the latest WWE video game?

I prefer wrestler over superstar, but I think whether or not superstar bugs me depends on the context.
"...not wrestlers, they're Superstars!" No.
"...not just wrestlers, they're Superstars!" That's okay.
