Imo, they should just give Ryback the Intercontinental Title, have the lower midcard guys stepping up to challenge him and let him tear through them until someone finally steps up and slays the beast.

The loss to Mark Henry made absolutely NO SENSE.
A heel won the feud and Ryback turned the night after, and now Mark might be retiring. Baffling booking.

When did he last win on PPV? The good old jobber handicap squash days? Hunico, if I recall correctly. I think it's terrible. We were this close to having someone in the main event who hasn't been there for five years, and WWE decided it would be a better investment to just make him a f***ing choke artist (oh, and expect someone to actually call him a choke artist on RAW tonight). Just goes to show WWE doesn't give a f*** if you're over if you're not John Cena. Sadly this. I wasn't the guy's biggest fan, but he was a major breakout star that wasn't a Cena clone like Sheamus or even Del Rio. Just an asskicking machine who didn't give a f***. It's been a long time since we had a face like that. Unfortunately, WWE made him heel for absolutely no reason. And once again, I knew right away that it would bite him in the ass, and now he's basically going to flounder around, possibly feud with guys like Sheamus and Del Rio before either flatlining his character or winning the useless WHC at a time when no one cares.

They fed him to Cena and the loss last night basically cut his proverbial nuts off. He's done as a big name. This isn't a complaint.

I don't really care whether he sinks or swims as a main eventer or not. What bothers me is that Ryback is gonna be squashing every midcard face in meaningless matches for the sake of pretending that he's still a big name. Instead of actually letting Ryback BE a midcarder, they're going to job out a lot of guys and make them out to look like scrubs just for the sake of maintaining a facade that Ryback is a big time player.

I dont care about him either. He can't talk and his catchphrases are mindnumbingly bad. Altho him squashing Sin Cara cause he's all mad will be funny.

He should probably invest in dance shoes.

Ryback looks like Bald Bull and jobs like him too, I don't really see the problem here.
In a related request, can someone make a .gif of Cena doing the Mike Tyson muscle flex and wink after he kills Little Mac?

Once they had Cena making fun of the size of his testicles, to his face, WHILE INJURED, and Ryback did nothing about it, he was derailed in my eyes. People were scared to death of the guy 2 months before.

I think they're intentionally making choking at crunch time a part of his character. The heel turn is "character development" so to speak. That "dark period" in his WWE run.
Remember how he came in with huge hype? How other workers would watch his matches backstage and marvel at how strong and brutal he was? He hasn't lived up to the hype; expect some baby face to point this out to him in the next few months in a promo where he gets dressed down for blaming his problems on Cena, Shield, Punk, etc. but not on the common element: Ryback.
(also is it me or was his turn on Cena laughably ineffective? it's not like they were close buddies)

The loss to Mark Henry made absolutely NO SENSE. A heel won the feud and Ryback turned the night after, and now Mark might be retiring. Baffling booking. The idea is that guys can withstand a loss better right before a turn, because after the turn, the character is "new", in a sense, and his immediate previous exploits don't matter as much. You can argue against that reasoning, but it's not new, that's classic old-timey territory days booking. And they didn't know Henry was might be retiring when he won at Mania. It was after that that he and the WWE started to have some kind of disagreement about his health status.

I don't think he's won a PPV match since July 2012's Money in the Bank.

The word "buried" is thrown around too liberally around here, but I think that's exactly what Ryback is if there isn't a massive payoff to his angle with Jericho.
What's the motive behind having him tap that way to Miz? Did he fail a drug test? Is this some odd way of rebuilding him?

Presumably he annihilates Jericho at MitB so Y2J can get written off and go back to his band, and they play it up as Ryback getting his groove back.
Then he, I dunno, beats up Kofi Kingston by showing an aggressive side we've never seen before, or something.

What's the motive behind having him tap that way to Miz? Did he fail a drug test? Is this some odd way of rebuilding him? I think in WWE's minds they were protecting Ryback. I think they were trying to protect both men actually. Ryback loses the match via stoppage because they figure it would hurt him more to be pinned or to actually tap out to the Figure Four. And despite how far the Miz has fallen, he's still a "star", so they can't have Ryback going over him decisively either.
