I cant fathom why they turned him heel to begin with Was Mark Henry still injured after Wrestlemania? Would have made more sense to do his program with Cena right after Mania rather than torpedo Ryback like that...unless they wanted Henry to briefly take the title from Cena and needed a program in between the two. In which case, I will gladly take a Mark Henry title win over the end of Ryback's career.

they turned him heel because they had nothing for him to do otherwise I'm going to guess that Ryback's reason for quitting is because he's going to look out for himself because he knows no one else will. Okay, maybe they could have had him wrestle Cena 1 on 1 for the title but it's harder to justify any sort of stip match for it. They could have kept Ryback face, but first make him look good by going over Mark Henry at Wrestlemania. He has the first match with Cena, a basic wrestling match, and ends up being close but Ryback still loses. Maybe Mark Henry interferes or something. He then has the rematch with a stipulation. I'd say a cage match, but that already happened at Extreme Rules with Lesnar and Triple H. Well, whatever the stip is, say a Last Man Standing match (instead of making that the FIRST match between Cena and Ryback), something happens. Maybe Cena and Ryback both take a big bump. Cena gets up first, Cena wins. Then Cena's attacked by Mark Henry. Say on the Payback show the IC or US champion bumps into Ryback. Ryback looks pissed. Then you set up an encounter between the IC or US champion and Ryback leading up to Summerslam. Ryback wins the title. Cena continues with his program with Henry. At the very least, Ryback would still be a face, look decently credible, and actually have a little bit of gold to his name, a la Goldberg when he beat Raven. A Ryback/Axel chase might prove interesting, plus it also opens up the possibility of doing Ryback/Lesnar at Survivor Series or the Royal Rumble. That wasn't that hard to come up with. Ryback had some decent fan responses and momentum. Hell, I became a fan of his after the TLC match he had with Punk. But that's entirely been pissed away now with his terrible booking since Wrestlemania.

I'm curious; is Ryback's fall from grace Wrestlecrap worthy yet? If so, what was the straw that broke the camel's back? If not, what would it take to make Ryback a 2013 inductee?

Nah, from what I remember of Wrestlecrap, Ryback being booked poorly isn't nearly egregious enough to get an induction.
If it was something patently ridiculous, like alla sudden "Feed Me More" had him solely competing in eating contests or something, then sure; otherwise, eh.. they've killed ever bit of momentum he had, and that's dumb, but it's not to the level of goofiness that those guys usually wrote/write bout.

Ryback has had more personality in the last few weeks than he has since he debuted. "Me monster smash!" was so flat and dull.
