For only the second time in MLB history, there were four games that ended 1-0 - Rays/Yankees, Royals/White Sox, Indians/Rangers and Cubs/Giants. The other time that happened was September 2nd 2001 (Yankees/Red Sox, Mariners/Orioles, Astros/Brewers and Padres/Diamondbacks).
Also, the Cubs' 1-0 win over the Giants was only the second time in the last 20 years that they won 1-0 with a ninth inning homer.

Fun fact: That Yankees/Red Sox game was when Carl Everett broke up Mike Mussina's perfect game bid with two outs in the 9th. Also, in other Red Sox news: David Ortiz 1, Clubhouse Phone 0

Jeez, can't he beat up a water cooler in the clubhouse like a normal person? Dustin Pedroia had to put a towel over his head so some of the debris wouldn't hit him in the face.
I imagine the Red Sox, if not Major League Baseball, will fine or even give him a suspension. It's one thing to be pissed off, but do it where your teammates aren't in the line of fire.

Two things sort of bugged me about David Ortiz going bananas on the dugout phone. First, as has already been stated, he began wildly swinging a bat at the phone, causing metal and plastic to go flying, and he did this within inches of Dustin Pedroia. I get that you're angry, but if he caught Pedroia with the bat or with shrapnel from the phone, people would be calling for Ortiz's head today. Which leads me to my second point, that Ortiz got irrationally angry in a game the Red Sox were leading 7-2 in the 7th inning. It's not like it was a called strike that cost them the game, they were comfortably ahead with the Orioles' remaining outs dwindling.
All that being said, Ortiz did show that he could be a switch-hitter if he wanted to. That first hack he took was a mighty right-handed swing.

Jeters first AB results in a HR. Can't make this shit up. His second will result in a pulled hamstring and a stint on the disabled list.

That was the first right-handed home run by a Yankee since late June.

@tbrownyahoo Source: Pujols has been told he's likely done for the season. Surgery possible, but undetermined.

I'm pretty happy about the way the Braves pitching has shut down the Cardinals over the last two games. Having said that, Kris Medlen is pitching tonight, so I fully expect the Cardinals to destroy him.

Anyone else watch the HOF ceremony? Honestly, for the first time in so many years, I forgot all about it.

I'll do mine, but I really started getting into baseball during '97/'98, so a lot of these will be more recent guys:
AL --- Baltimore: Cal Ripken, Jr. Boston: Manny Ramirez Chicago: Paul Konerko Cleveland: Travis Hafner Detroit: Justin Verlander Houston: Craig Biggio/Lance Berkman Kansas City: Zack Greinke Los Angeles: Tim Salmon Minnesota: Joe Mauer New York: Derek Jeter Oakland: Miguel Tejada Seattle: Ichiro Texas: Michael Young Toronto: Roy Halladay
NL
Arizona: Randy Johnson Atlanta: Chipper Jones Chicago: Kerry Wood Cincinnati: Brandon Phillips Colorado: Todd Helton Los Angeles: Clayton Kershaw Miami: Hanley Ramirez Milwaukee: Ben Sheets New York: Mike Piazza Philadelphia: Ryan Howard Pittsburgh: Andrew McCutchen San Diego: Tony Gwynn San Francisco: Barry Bonds St. Louis: Albert Pujols Washington (Montreal): Ryan Zimmerman/Vladimir Guerrero
Also, I know the Tigers blew out the Phillies, but Cabrera's ejection was total bullshit.

Question for Red Sox fans:
why was Adrian Gonzalez a part of the Dodger trade last summer?
I understood why they shipped out Beckett and Crawford, but what was Gonzalez's issue- the serious hitting slump?

Gonzo, as I understand it, was very unhappy in Boston and was becoming a negative influence in the clubhouse.
