Bsltimore: Cal Ripken Boston: Pedro Martinez Chicago: Frank Thomas Cleveland: Jim Thome Detroit: Bobby Higginson Houston: Jeff Bagwell Kansas City: Carlos Beltran Los Angeles: Garrett Anderson Minnesota: Joe Mauer New York: Derek Jeter Oakland: Mark McGwire Seattle: Ken Griffey Jr. Tampa Bay: Carl Crawford Texas: Ivan Rodriguez Toronto: Carlos Delgado
Arizona: Randy Johnson Atlanta: Chipper Jones Chicago: Sammy Sosa Cincinnati: Barry Larkin Colorado: Larry Walker Florida: Gary Sheffield Los Angeles: Shawn Green Milwaukee: Geoff Jenkins New York: Edgardo Alfonzo Philadelphia: Ryan Howard Pittsburgh: Andrew McCutchen St. Louis: Albert Pujols San Diego: Trevor Hoffman San Francisco: Barry Bonds Washington/Montreal: Vladimir Guerrero
What I think would be more challenging is to come up with the franchise player for each team, with the qualifier being that they spent their entire career with that team.
Baltimore: Cal Ripken Boston: Ted Williams Chicago: Luke Appling Cleveland: Bob Feller Detroit: Al Kaline Houston: Craig Biggio Kansas City: George Brett Los Angeles: Tim Salmon Minnesota/Washington: Walter Johnson New York: Joe DiMaggio Oakland: Ed Rommel Seattle: Edgar Martinez Tampa Bay: Evan Longoria Texas: Ian Kinsler, I guess Toronto: Adam Lind
Arizona: Paul Goldschmidt Atlanta: Chipper Jones Chicago: Ernie Banks Cincinnati: Johnny Bench Colorado: Todd Helton Florida: Giancarlo Stanton Los Angeles: Sandy Koufax Milwaukee: Robin Yount New York: David Wright Philadelphia: Mike Schmidt Pittsburgh: Roberto Clemente St. Louis: Stan Musial San Diego: Tony Gwynn San Francisco: Mel Ott Washington/Montreal: Steve Rogers

Question for Red Sox fans: why was Adrian Gonzalez a part of the Dodger trade last summer? I understood why they shipped out Beckett and Crawford, but what was Gonzalez's issue- the serious hitting slump? The dodgers wanted A-gon, so the Red socks told the dodger to get him you have to take on those terrible contracts which the dodgers agree to. So the red socks used Adrian to facilitate a massive salary dump.

Yasiel Puig hit a walk-off home run today. After making contact, he flipped the bat, tossed both hands in the air, posed at home plate for a second or two, then slid into home after rounding the bases. According to the "unwritten rules" of baseball, he's absolutely, positively catching one in the ribs the next time he faces the Reds.

HOW DARE HE SHOW EMOTION AFTER BREAKING A SCORELESS TIE IN THE 10TH TO CONTINUE THEIR TORRID MONTH OF JULY! I mean, it's not like he hit a meaningful HR in a late summer game that could loom large in the standings.... oh wait, he did!

@tbrownyahoo Source: Pujols has been told he's likely done for the season. Surgery possible, but undetermined. Worse contract than A-Rod. As for my choices on that franchise player list Baltimore: Cal Ripken, Jr. Boston: Wade Boggs Chicago: Frank Thomas Cleveland: Abert Belle Detroit: Cecil Fielder Houston: Jeff Bagwell Kansas City: George Brett Los Angeles: Mark Lanston Minnesota: Kirby Puckett New York: Mariano Rivera Oakland: Tim Hudson Seattle: Ken Griffey, Jr. Texas: Nolan Ryan Toronto: Joe Carter NL Arizona: Randy Johnson Atlanta: Greg Maddux Chicago: Sammy Sosa Cincinnati: Rob Dibble Colorado: Larry Walker Los Angeles: Orel Hershiser Miami: Ivan Rodriguez Milwaukee: Paul Molitor New York: Mike Piazza Philadelphia: Lenny Dykstra Pittsburgh: Andy Van Slyke San Diego: Tony Gwynn San Francisco: Barry Bonds St. Louis: Mark McGwire Washington (Montreal): Vladimir Guerrero

Dodger fan in me may need to be put aside for a moment, and I can't find a good video that keeps focus on Puig after contact--but is that really any worse than what Manny always did or what Ortiz always does? I don't really like bat flips and posing, but I don't see his as being amongst some of the worst. I don't have an issue with the slide whatsoever, though.

Couple Cubs (& former) notes:
Cubs sweep the Giants for the first time since '93 & their first west coast sweep since '05 against the Dodgers. In three games, they out scored SF 6-3...
Travis Wood with his third bomb on the year; Lincecum's first to an opposing pitcher.
CJ Edwards, the main piece in the Garza deal, struck out the first 7 batters he faced at Daytona. He finished the day with 5 IP, 8K, & 1H. Nothing left the infield. In 99 & 1/3 IP of pro ball he has yet to give up a homer & has 130K's during that time.
Soriano had a game tying HR & a walk off RBI for the Yanks. I don't care what anyone says, I still like the dude & hope he succeeds back in NY.

Didn't read the original question, but these are the first guys that came to mind. Nolan Ryan I originally had three times, but left him with the Rangers; partly because he's still there, yet my best memories of him are in California & Houston.
I only went with players I saw live, except in Pittsburgh. Clemente is one of my top five favorites of all time, so I broke my own rule.
AL Baltimore: Ripken Boston: Pedro Chicago: Big Frank Cleveland: Lofton Detroit: Cecil Houston: Biggio Kansas City: George Brett Los Angeles: Glaus Minnestoa: Mauer New York: Mariano Oakland: McGwire Seattle: Griffey Texas: Ryan Toronto: Joe Carter
NL Arizona: Big Unit Atlanta: Maddux Chicago: Sandberg/Dawson/Maddux/Grace BUT I'll go with Rhyno Cincinatti: Larkin Colorado: Helton Los Angeles: Piazza Miami: Dontrelle Milwaukee: Prince New York: Doc Philadelphia: Daulton Pittsburgh: Clemente San Diego: Gwynn San Francisco: Bonds St. Louis: Ozzie Washington/Montreal: Zimmerman/Vlad

I have to go back on what I said, now that I actually saw the video. It wasn't as bad as it sounded. For some reason, I have more of an issue with the jersey being ripped off than anything, but whatever. I guess I'm turning into a cranky old codger at 29.
