The funny thing about the "those who forget history are doomed to repeat it" line is that Bischoff took over WCW when they were in worse shape than TNA is now, and he turned that franchise into the #1 wrestling promotion in the world within a few years. Everyone remembers the fall, but no one remembers (or wants to remember) the climb. I'm not suggesting that Bischoff will do a good job in this role, but what got him in trouble in WCW was the unlimited bank account. Once revenue started to dip, the enormous guaranteed contracts crippled that company. As long as TNA is working within their means as best they can, I doubt Bischoff can do anything that mirrors WCW even if he wanted to (i.e. signing Batista). While the unlimited bank account definitely hurt Bischoff in WCW, he had no control over the guys and let Hogan, Nash, and others pretty much do whatever they wanted at the expense of the overall product. He did a good job for a while but ultimately showed his limitations when the nWo and Goldberg finally ran out of gas IMO. Well, apart from Hogan (of course) and, in a way, Sting (Religious limits), who exactly has that control in their contracts? I mean, a lot of under card guys have control of who they are, but not in going over or who is winning the belt.

I'm fine with this, as long as we get the bischoff that gave us the cruiserweight division and the amazing WCW midcard rather than the one that gave us the never ending saga of the NWO that lives 12 inches up Hulk Hogan's backside.

Way to shoot the guy down before even giving him a chance or anything. It's not as if every writer pretty much everywhere hasn't been a writer before and probably will be again at some point. Not to mention that Bischoff was at the helm of WCW when it was at it's hottest, most competitive and most profitable and most of his mistakes came from overconfidence rather than incompetence. No lets just shit all over him even though Russo got the same treatment yet brought TNA through it's best years alongside wrestling's other villain Ed Ferrara. I'm not saying Bischoff is going to make the place into the land of gold but jeeze, get a grip. It's TNA. They exist, therefore they deserve to be crapped on. Right, guys? That's kinda how it goes. That said, the wrestling business is so myopic and insular that there probably isn't anyone else that could take the job or even be asked.

Seems to be this is making something more de jure than de facto.

To be honest....who else do they really have? That is my thought on it, along with wondering how much would change. I don't know how much influence Eric might have already had creatively. I am not excited for the change, but I am also not really sure it'll be all that bad compared to what we may expect. We'll see, I guess.

Yes the Hogan title run that he could have had as soon as he walked through the door because Dixie is such a mark, yet only now that the villainous Eric Bischoff is head of creative is it going to happen because of course we all know that Hogan and Bischoff are the heads of the Wrestling Axis of Evil.

Bischoff already been in charge of TNA Creative. His finger prints been all over the booking since he showed up. All this is just a formality. Nothing is going to change (good or bad) creative wise in TNA.

I don't have a problem with this. Apparently I am in the minority.

Everyone remembers the fall, but no one remembers (or wants to remember) the climb. That's because the fall happened so amazingly fast that it has to be studied by promoters to learn exactly what NOT to do with a promotion.

Basically its rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic I am trying to think of something positive to say but I can't come up with anything. We still are stuck in are NWO rehash with Aces and 8's vs the MEM

We still are stuck in are NWO rehash with Aces and 8's vs the MEM The "TNA is a sinking ship!!" meme is getting really old really fast and seen as they're currently resigning talent to bigger better deals it's all but been confirmed that TNA were streamlining, not cutting talent because they were bleeding money. As for being stuck with MEM/A&8s, the story is well on it's way to resolving so we're not stuck with that either.
