Di Canio's antics work at the lower level. Never stood a chance at Premier League level.

Some people are really giving Moyes a load of shit. Unfairly I think. United have had some tough fixtures to start the season (Liverpool away, City away, Chelsea)and they seem to be forgetting he's having to follow one of the greatest Managers ever. Ok, they should be beating West Brom at home but it's not exactly cause for him to be sacked.

Derby have sacked Nigel Clough. Very harsh imo.

Arsenal still top of the table. Still doubtful over their ability to go on and win it, so I'll enjoy it while it lasts.
I think those calling for Moyes to be sacked already are the ones who didn't want him as manager in the first place, and don't believe he can turn things round. United have had similar bad spells under Ferguson, but somehow there was always the belief that he would turn things around soon enough, and he usually did.

Derby have sacked Nigel Clough. Very harsh imo. They've had a lot of patience with Clough through a lot of difficult times but they've jumped the gun this season. If they were still underachieving in November/December then I could understand it but this is harsh and goes against the grain given the patience they've shown in the past. It's not like Forest thrashed them today either. Very strange.

I said before the season that this was Arsenal's best chance to win the league in 5 or 6 years. However, I didn't expect them to start quite so well. We'll see where things are around Christmas time before you can really start to say who will be in the mixing pot come the end of the season but given the amount of upheaval that's gone on this summer I think this will be one of the most unpredictable seasons ever. Any one of six teams could win it. Very exciting!

I always hoped Moyes would get off to a bad start. Mot because I have anything against Man U, but rather because it would be the most interesting scenario.
A lot of Man U fans only know success with the exception of one or two seasons. They've never seen them miss out on Champions League football. I heard a few folk saying things like, "We've been spoiled in recent years so a few years without success wouldn't be the worst thing in the world." If Moyes doesn't turn things round quickly, it'll be interesting to see how the fans' resolve holds out.

Ferguson struggled at Man Utd for years before he turned it around, but it should also be noted that before he joined Man Utd, he had been successful at Aberdeen, breaking the Old Firm and winning two European trophies. Moyes on the other hand had won nothing.

Moyes on the other hand had won nothing. Ferguson had undoubtedly been more successful at Aberdeen than Moyes has at his previous clubs. But lets not underestimate the job Moyes has done at other clubs. He came within a whisker of getting Preston promoted to the PL and took Everton from being a chronic mid to low table club to constant challengers for the top 6. He's not without pedigree. Given time I've no doubt he can lead Utd to success. Whether or not he'll get that time is another matter.

Sturridge scores one with his arm. Oh well, makes up for the beach ball goal that never should have stood! A lucky break for Liverpool though. And then the toothy tit scores to make it 2-0.

We got fortunate with the first goal but I'm happy with three points. Suarez with a brace on his Premier League return.

Liverpool looked like Saints Row wearing that kit. I like it.
Well done to their ladies for winning the WSL today

Sunderland impressed me even in defeat today. They really tested Liverpool and on another day with the luck going the other way the result could've been totally different. As much as they are rock bottom at the minute they won't be for long if they continue to play like that. Lets just hope they forget how to play football again by 27th October!

Belgium, Switzerland, Germany and Colombia have officially qualified for the World Cup, with the first three topping their European groups and the latter securing a South American top 4.
Also, already qualified Australia have sacked their manager after a 6-0 friendly loss to France.

Russia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, England and Spain have punched their tickets for Brazil. Later we'll have 2 teams from CONMEBOL and one from CONCACAF do the same.
