The Heath Ledger argument is weak. The massive backlash people are talking about when he was cast as the Joker is over blown. The only people complaining about it at the time were homophobic morons who were upset that a "gay cowboy" actor was cast as The Joker. It didn't matter that he was great in Brokeback Mountain it sucked because of gay. I seem to recall a number of people thinking he wasn't right for the part because he was a "teen heart-throb" in 10 Things I Hate About You. Yeah, I remember some people remarking he was too good looking to be the joker or something. I mean some did call him the guy from the gay cowboy movie, but there was also a large number of people talking about A Knight's Tale and 10 things.

He might be ok. He has some good performances and bad ones and I just don't really think of him as a fit for this part. I remember thinking he would have made a good Superman, thought that even before Hollywoodland. I had a conversation at lunch with my boyfriend about a possible Justice League movie and how I really want Martian Manhunter in it and he said he thought Affleck would be good for that part and now I kind of want that and it can't happen because he is Batman now. Boyfriend wanted Aaron Eckhart as Batman but that wasn't going to happen anyway due to him being Harvey Dent in Dark Knight.

Actually, I did some digging in the Off Topic archive, and most of the "backlash" was people lamenting over the Joker not being played by Crispin Glover, Johnny Depp, Paul Bettany, or Paul "Pee Wee" Reubens. The most negative response that I found was from...Deux Ex...with his "Heath 'No talent' Ledger" response. As an additional nugget of humor, the funniest thing I found while digging around, was the response to Aaron Eckhart being announced as Two Face. Many people here believed it would be "just for Harvey Dent". Wrong you were!!

There were actually several, just go to the archives pre-2008 and search for "Ledger". That's what I did. You also will find reactions to leaked photos and other goofiness. Getchyer popcorn ready!

Late to the party, but I'm totally comfortable with Affleck as Batman.
It's Snyder, as ever, who is the point of worry here.

I blame Yennifer Yopez (she likes tacos and burritos). She was what gave Affleck the bad rep from their overexposure. Plus it's fun to do so.
I never saw either Daredevil, so I am not as enraged as others. And anyway, is it different from Mr. Mom being Batman*?
Just as long as this Batman can speak English! I liked the Nolan trilogy but can't overlook Bats talking like Cookie Monster, like so many others. Bale's voice(s) were OK in Begins, but then he went way over the top after, to the point of self-parody. I THINK he did the constipated "WHEREISHE?!" again in Rises, or something like it. After the ridicule it got in TDK, to me it was like everyone memeing "the Goddamn Batman" line from Frank Miller...so he replies by having everyone call him that.
* - I mean "Tim Burton's Batman" of course, not necessarily the "real thing," of course.

Call me crazy, but tell me if this sounds decent.
I think there may be a part in the movie Kevin Smith could pull off if Affleck could wrangle it for him.
We were at the comic shop talking about it and a thought occured to me.
Smith would make a pretty decent Harvey Bullock.

I don't recall commenting on this, but...
I don't really like this decision.
Ben Affleck is a good director and honestly...I would prefer if he stuck to his own movies. If he was set to direct this movie, I'd totally be on board, because he'd certainly do much better that Zack f***in' Snyder.
However, I don't trust him to do that good as an actor. Certainly, he was decent in Hollywoodland as Superman, but that was a different kind of a role. Here? I just don't see it. He doesn't come off as "deep" or "brooding", which I've always seen Wayne as. It's too early to tell, but Affleck is still a mediocre actor, he's just gotten very good in every other category to hide it. So when you have someone like Snyder who doesn't come off as an actor's director and an actor who needs someone to hide their limitations, you're in for a disaster.
Oh well. I think DC is going off the f***in' deep end with trying so desperately to keep up with Marvel, that they're going to dig their own grave. It sucks, but them's the breaks.

Terrible decision. I like him a lot but he doesn't fit it in my opinion. I would have gone with an older Batman, probably Josh Brolin Now there's a good choice. I'm not a Brolin fan, but I think setting up Batman as a seasoned superhero would have been a good in-between to Supes. "Damn you! I told you I didn't want to wear the damn mask!"

You know, after thinking about it a few days. I have relaxed about it, and look forward to it. I want to see what he can do. No matter who was playing him they were going to get my money. I hate when fan boys say they will not be going, of course you will. I don't want to trash something before it is out. So I am ready for it.
Brolin should have been bats though
