That's a helluva cast.
I also always love watching movies I've seen being filmed, so that will be cool.

I think the way they changed the death of Murphy (before he becomes Robocop) is indicative of this being made PG-13. I have already seen a PG-13 Robocop (Robocop 3) and it sucked. So yeah........don't have much faith in this film.

Bigger was the terrible effects, the stupid jetpack thing, the awful Japanese robot man. If you took Dredd's violence and put it in there, it'd still be a piece of shit of a film.

I had an open mind however I'm less enthusiastic after the trailer
Just not a fan of the fact that its just a guy in a metal suit. Less man or machine and more man in a machine.
I will agree though that its not like it can make the Robocop legacy any worse.......Anything after Robocop 1 is terrible or boring
The cast looks great though, tempted just by that

Everything in that trailer looks much better than I was expecting it to be.
His "death" is so incredibly lame compared to the original dispatching of Alex Murphy, though.
But I am not horrified by any of this, and that is a considerable (and delightful) surprise.

I may end up being completely wrong, but I don't see how this will be anything but awful. The trailer does a great job of backing that up.

That the scene where he's tending to the (and not to sound racist) token black friend who will die is where he gets murdered. Perhaps a building explosion to make sure he's truly dead.

Some of you guys have stupidly high expectations for a Robocop remake. I don't get why it has to be exactly the same as the original; people kvetch and moan when remakes are too close to the original anyway since half of the time that defeats the point of remaking it.
Pleased with how the suit looks now, even in stealth mode.

Might be, except that right after that scene and the opening titles, it says Murphy is in the hospital with major burns on 80 percent of his body, and if he survives will be paralyzed from the waist down, which leads them to his wife pushing them to do something, and that something seems to be making him Robocop.

Pleased with how the suit looks now, even in stealth mode. That's kinda the reason Hollywood shouldn't be doing remakes of everything under the sun even though they will because they're too scared their over-priced movie duds are going shut down studios. Robocop as a movie worked because it was more of a scathing critique of capitalism and a reaffirmation of one's humanity. Being Robocop wasn't supposed to be look cool overall. The Robocop walk was supposed to be kinda stilted and clunky...just... I think part of the reason this movie looks so generic is because judging from the trailer, the entire point of the original was lost, remember just because the words kinda allude to it in the trailer doesn't mean it's going to mean much inside the movie. Remember that huge secret about Peter Parker's parents that was supposed to change everything forever in the history of Spider-Man in that nonsense Spider-Man Remake Nobody Asked For? I'm sure they'll throw nods here and there to the original, but it's all guns, explosions, CGI, BIG.IMPORTANT.WORDS. Come on, they can't even act like we can fear a dystopian future of crime running rampant when we're living in a time where the police is more like the military and they bury fools under the jails for non-violent offenses. I even wonder what the "dystopian future" of Detroit (assuming it still is set in Detroit) will even look like without having it resemble more of the dystopian present.

That trailer does not look so bad.
It does look generic as hell and I can see how fanatics of the original film will hate it, but it looks to be a decent film for the masses.
I myself will probably not watch it since these sorts of movies are too predictable, but to call it terrible is a bit too much.
These remakes are too much though, especially when the remake is just all about CGI and attractive people instead of a great story.
This generation of movie goers scares me a lot because the standard has dropped so far below.

At the risk of this causing a massive stir, judging by what I've been hearing, the idea of Robocop being a Christ figure is being dropped.

I think it looks awesome, honestly. I like how they made the helmet part retractable and the sleek suit looks nice. I'll agree that it looks like it's going to be PG-13, but I don't think that's a bad thing.

Having watched it again I think maybe what they are going for is a "Is humanity giving up its freedom to technology" sort of thing so maybe that's why they have changed the death to badly injured and why the whole Christ analogy/regaining his humanity/corporate America message has been changed
...........Or maybe not who knows ha
But yeah I think the suits looks cool

Holder from The Killing has always seemed like an odd choice for this robe.

I found something, someone posted on another forum that HE found on another forum that gives me a little glimmer of what they could be doing. Of course, my glass is still half full.

Looks like a functional generic action flick that's been given a Robocop-themed lick of paint.

Thank goodness his helmet flips up so we can see the actors face, his contract must have called for that or it was a studio mandate. I will not watch this with euphoric bliss. In the original, he removed his mask a number of times. Didnt he use a screwdriver and the end of the film to do it and looked at himself?
