Call a transexual (not a drag queen though, there's a difference) a tranny, and they will END you Except for all the trannies I've talked to. Well, some of us like it, most of us don't.

You can get across that a word is offensive without equating it to . Trynna co-opt shit. i'm going to leave it to you to realise why I think that tranny is such an offensive word As you should. Notice I never said anything about that word not being offensive.

It was acceptable in the 90s. Sadly so were the Spin Doctors. Until we realized they didn't have seals upon their jackets.

It's true, this is something I've been guilty of, but that word does have a unique history, and given that it's still in frequent use today as a term of abuse, we should try and avoid the comparisons, sorry. It's just awkward, because it's possibly the only word used as a term of abuse towards a minority that most people actually realise is inappropriate (even if people do still use it), which leads to some problems when trying to get people to understand similar issues with language. (Since I'm fairly sure this is a thread that the mods will be paying close attention to, is there any chance we can get a filter up for the t-word? Unless there's a large contingent of transistor radio users on here, I can't see any situation where it'd be appropriate for use, or at least any where it'll be a bigger inconvenience than people from Scunthorpe trying to say where they're from on the internet.)

If I remember during my time as a mod correctly, the issue with some words being filtered and some not is more a thing with letter combinations.
I.E. Any word starting with tran would also be filtered, so you couldn't say talk about Transformers without having a gif before 'Formers.. which admittedly would be hilarious.
Any active mod can correct that if it's outdated.

I just find it funny that people who complain about people being so butthurt are usually more butthurt. I just find both extreme sides equally annoying.

Just for clarification's sake, unless I'm misunderstanding your post, it's the term 'tranny/trannies' that's offensive, and so far as I'm aware, there aren't many words that are prefixed by that, whereas 'trans' has an obvious context as a prefix as well as being an widely accepted term for non-cis individuals.

Right, but what I'm saying is, how the filters used to work is like ANY word containing four or so letters that were filtered would then be filtered, so transformers transport tran-siberian orchestra, etc etc, ALL of 'em would be filtered along tranny.

At times it seems like the only acceptable form of insults is overly wordy, olde english. Heel: Sir, I do say I quite dislike you. Face: For what reason, sir? Heel: It is my understanding that your views differ from my own! Face: Might you elaborate on such? Heel: I shant. Thereby, causing my anger to be illogical and set my place in stone as the "bad guy." Face: Very much so, and I as the "good guy." Shall take umbrage with such, and agree to fisticuffs. Have at you! Simon Gotch better debut in this fashion...

But the guy's already over all of WWE TV as it is with this new Corporation angle, why would anyone want to further overexpose 'the Asskicker' by putting him f***ing over on one's anus?

Actually, it is a lil outdated. We CAN filter it without other words being censored, but outside of the n word (which is one of the only holdovers after dropping a bunch of filters) we'd like to think people would use common sense in just not using the slurs. The rules (which some of you guys need to look at sometime) are pretty clear about not using that type of slurs on the board in general. You can always report the post and we'll look at it.
