I remember when Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus happened at WrestleMania 28, people were (very rightfully) livid both on here and at the arena. But considering Raw the night after, and how immensely popular "Yes! Yes! Yes!" and Daniel Bryan have gotten, was it worth the rage it received?

I knew it wasn't a burial at the time. I was more irritated that they had denied us a great Wrestlemania match for the second year running.

For the most part, yes. But I'm still a little agitated the match didn't take place. If their match at Extreme Rules was any indication then they would've put on a great show. That's exactly my point. Plus, the first hour of WM28 (before the Hell in a Cell match) was incredibly tedious after the 18 seconds thing. I think a great Bryan/Sheamus match could have made WM28 one of the greatest Wrestlemanias ever. |

They could have had a great WrestleMania match, and Bryan still could have gotten over just as much as he did with another push down the line.

I'm still annoyed they scrapped what should've been the climactic showdown between Sheamus and Mark Henry in exchange for the comedy midget.
But since they did, at least we got something more memorable and entertaining than a competitive match.

Still not a fan of it for that match. Made far more sense to use in the Cody/Big Show match and it wouldn't have killed the crowd dead. Also don't see what it did for either Sheamus or Bryan. Bryan would have still been over like crazy the following nights and it wouldn't have given Sheamus the hatred that followed him around for a year.

They wasted so much time with Daniel Bryan. He could have been a top face about a year earlier had they not tried to get Sheamus over instead of him. They already wasted loads of time burying him on NXT and then turning Michael Cole heel in order to verbally bury him some more.
Priorities were all wrong. Insanely stupid booking.

No. While Mark's injury was presumably the reason they took him out of the high-profile angle he'd earned, he still ended up well enough to wrestle on the 'Mania card, and well enough to have singles matches on TV in the weeks leading up to Wrestlemania (not to mention an extended, PPV quality match against CM Punk on the night after Wrestlemania). |

Yes.
If he went out there and had a match and lost it would've been forgotten about before we even got to the diva match.
It was memorable and caused an uproar that made Bryan into a way bigger star.
Plus, I thought it was hilarious when it happened. Nearly cried laughing when I was there.

I never doubted Bryan could rebound from it. I never doubted fans would react to it in a way that wasn't pro-Bryan.
I always doubted WWE would come to their senses on Bryan's talent. And they've proven me wrong, so...yes. It was worth it.

The worst part was that clearly WWE did not foresee Bryan becoming more popular because of it. They essentially lucked out on the fans taking matters into their own hands to salvage what was left.
It also sucked for the matches between the opener and the HIAC match. The performers were not anticipating the crowd to be that agitated with WrestleMania from the opening. For midcard fillers in an open arena, that was a shot in the foot they didn't need.
But it ultimately turned out to be the best thing to ever happen to Daniel Bryan.

If they really had their hearts set on a <30 second squash, then they should have saved it for Rhodes/Show.
Bryan would still be super over now regardless of how that match went. But at least they could have had a great match instead of that.

He was on the Mania card because it was a tag match. He was well enough to be cleared to wrestle, but not enough to be in a high-profile feud, as heard from more than one report that came out at the time, and the fact that he left shortly after to go get surgery. |

I'd say yes for Bryan, no for the people who paid their hard earned money specifically for that, yes for his fans eventually...
But for Sheamus, it's kind of a dead heat. He won the title, but then the very next night he started the shitty Del Rio feud for 6 f***ing months, lost it to freaking Big Show in a kinda lame feud. Then he dicked around with Orton in some weird feud where no one turned heel and Big Show won I think. All or most of this was Smackdown exclusive too mind you. Looking back, he really had more to gain and I'm sure WWE wanted him to gain it, but it just hasn't really worked out as well as they planned I'm sure. I like the guy actually, and I hope whatever direction they take with him when he comes back is positive.
