The suspicion comes from the fact that the Bellas are not over on WWE TV, get no reactions, there's no Total Divas viewer crossover The only things I've really seen regarding this is the show has been a surprise ratings hit for E! but not resulted in a knock-on effect for Raw. If there are figures out there contradicting me, I'll gladly accept them, but to me that suggests that those watching Total Divas are already watching Raw as opposed to non-WWE-watching E! viewers starting to watch Raw based on Total Divas.

Earlier in the thread there was discussion about I guess her being annoying, and now vs earlier. I am not an AJ Lee fan, but I've been able to watch WWE without changing the channel due to too much AJ Lee since about Jan 2013. I now find her to be a non-issue in terms of ruining the show, I think they're using her about as well as they could be (namely she's not opening/closing shows, doesn't have looooong talking segments where she is awkwardly and poorly delivering dialogue in an affected voice with odd pauses, also no longer a 'crazy' vacant-eyed sex object).

The figures according to stockholders reports and conference calls are that there is a little wrestling audience crossover for Total Divas, but its mostly a hit with the niche E! audience that does not watch the actual product. That said, and with that, WWE has actually managed to create something successful outside wrestling's core audience, so congrats to them for that.

I have a solution:
Make AJ the undisputed "diva" and fire the rest.

I don't really get the AJ hype. To me, a character is only as good as his/her foil is pushing him/her to be. Where is AJ's foil? I don't get her either. She looks too much like a boy.

I will admit to not taking more than a cursory glance at the viewing figures, but your reputation for thoroughness precedes you and I shall not make an argument from ignorance. Is it likely that WWE disregarded fan votes? Yes. I don't believe for a second Stephanie got the most votes for her award, but I don't think it is all that unbelievable that the Bellas could have gotten more votes than AJ.

I don't get her either. She looks too much like a boy. If she looks like a boy to you you need your vision checked. No matter what you or I say, she isn't and will never be attractive. I hate her prance to the ring. I hate those crazy eyes. I hate her utter lack of talent. I would love for Victoria to squash her. Or Beth Phoenix. Hell, just bring the ghost of Bull Nakano back for a night.

There's plenty of people on the roster and behind the scenes who I don't care for, but I wouldn't take your stance over them. Throwing "hate" around and making definitive statements about subjective things is just plain silly.

Haha, can't there just be a middling opinon on this woman? She's either the worst and I hate her soooo much or she's the greatest and I love her to death.
I like her, she's good. I think she's a good talker and has a strong personality, nothing great in the ring but she's competent and gets her character across, and I like wacky overselling so she's got that going for her. She'd benefit from having a better division around her, like some veterans to work with that aren't Natalya. I enjoy her on color commentary, she sounds like an actual person and she doesn't take any shit from the announcers. As far as the divas go, she's the best of the bunch imo.
I guess the fact that she is so divisive bodes well for her, she definitely inspires a reaction either way. Controversy!

AJ should have won Best Insult, but I KNEW Stephanie was winning that for some reason. Don't understand how, but I knew she would! I sorta uderstand the Bella's winning though. It's all about Total Divas these days, and aside from Natalya they are the top face divas from that show. That was the one that most showed the Slammy results weren't legit, at least not all of them. No way in hell Stephanie McMahon wins a fan vote.

While I do think she's the most talented Diva on the roster overall (second only in the ring to Nattie, light years ahead of everyone else on the mic) I don't think she's deserving of the amount of praise she gets from her supporters, or the hate she gets from her detractors. As you rightly point out, she gets a reaction from both camps, which - as Cena has proved - is the most important thing.

I obviously cannot prove conclusively that this was the case. But I think it is possible based on the factors I've mentioned. My main gripe was not the result, but that WWE would possibly con people. I'd rather they just present the awards like they used to in the 80's and late 90's, and further the angles they want furthered, rather than do contrived voting that gives the false illusion of choice.
