I don't recall any audible dislike towards Trish and Mickie, or McCool ever being popular. I just don't see this supposed backlash or her fans causing problems for non-fans. As best as I can tell, neither are occuring.
WWE have tried to portray AJ as the heel, but it just hasn't worked. The crowd aren't booing her, and I don't hear any enthusiasm towards the Bellas or Nattie. I question whether it was a legit vote, and the idea that AJ couldn't win over the voters to be highly dubious. Crowd reactions at live shows are a better indicator than a highly suspicious vote.

I'm surprised this is the result that got the outrage and not Cena/Rock winning match of the year. That's because it was the first indefensible result of the night, hence it was the first indicator that the fan voting may not have been on the take. I think if you put Steph's Slammy or Rock vs. Cena as MOTY, those get the big backlash. That, and as Sean mentioned, there's at least the idea that Rock and Cena was a major box office attraction with the two most recognizable Superstars of the year, so there's at least somewhat of a chance it could have won.

I don't know. As an AJ fan, I'm way more upset that they've taken one of their most recognizable performers on the current roster, who has shown in recent weeks that she's still quite over, and regulated her to feuding with people via commentary. It's inexcusable.

Honestly I couldn't give a flying f*** about the Slammys as personally I reckon they are pointless and rigged.

It's what happens at the arenas that counts.

It's not so much an uproar but a critique of WWE's forced booking. It would be like Alberto being "voted" Superstar of the Year. People would immediately recognise that it was bullshit.

She got robbed yes, but if the Bellas were really Diva of The Year, they'd be champ. Their not, nuff said.

i'm not really sure if they put up the numbers that it would really change anything as far as people thinking things were rigged or not. i don;t think it would take much to swap the names of the bellas with AJ's or anyone else's if they got the most votes to "prove" they won.
graphics guy in the truck: hmm AJ 35%, Bellas 20%. ok let's <cut, copy, paste. cut, copy, paste> do this- bellas 35%, AJ 20% <save as> ok vince we're good to go.
rock/cena and steph were also strange winners for me. i was even a bit surprised with HBK winning- i would have put henry #1 easy (did anyone at all expect that one before or after henry started getting into his speech?) , HHH #2 then HBK. since after HHH's a lot of folk were expecting HBK to follow along.
thye might not wanted to give the diva of the year to the same one two years in a row either (AJ did win last year right? i'm too lazy to look it up)

A.J. did win Diva of the Year in 2012.
I would love it if the WWE stopped using the Slammys to push talent and storylines on us and just have it be a show were the fans vote actually counted. It would mean more that someone won an award that fans voted for than what they have now.

It's only in recent years they added the fan votes. I like AJ as much as the next guy, but her not winning a trophy is going to change her fortunes. I wish they would drop the online voting just so people can stop spazzing whenever someone they want to win doesn't. It's not like WWE charaged people for voting like other tv shows do.

Why did they start doing fan voting? It's such a pointless addition that leads to arguments like this.

Why did they start doing fan voting? It's such a pointless addition that leads to arguments like this. It might just be a survey of sorts to see what the fans think about certain things. Like if 1 guy gets a surprising amount of votes in certain categories, the WWE could take notice of that and use it in their future booking plans. If I'm not mistaken the reason the WWE took notice of Batista was that he did really well in the voting for the IC title match for Taboo Tuesday event in 2004. He got a really high % as a heel which shows the fans were starting to get really behind him.
