I'm really surprised at all the Carolina picks. The Panthers are a damn good team no question about it, but this 49er team is a different beast than the team they beat earlier in the year. We didn't have Crabtree and Vernon got knocked out of the game early, 10 points isn't gonna win this game for Carolina this go around. I think playoff experience is going to be what wins this game for the 49ers. Cam is playing great right now, but I don't trust him against our defense when it matters the most. We don't trust Kaepernick against the Panthers defense....even with Crabtree back. Plus, this is at Carolina where Panthers beat the Niners in San Francisco. Carolina is just too damn hot right now. Plus you barely beat an inferior Packers defense. I get not trusting Kap. The same mistakes he made in Green Bay would lose us the game in Carolina. The Panthers have pretty much owned us since they came into the league and I'm a lot more worried about this game than I was last week. I'm really surprised at all the Carolina picks. I believe in the 49ers and I 100% believe in Kaepernick, I just think that the Panthers will edge you guys out slightly if only because of that defense. Playoff experience is important, but Green Bay has enough of it and they lost to you guys so it's definitely not everything. Whoever wins it's going to be a great game, but I'll take a Panthers win with seconds to go. Give me 24-21. I agree with you that it will be a great game, I just have the final score you posted switched with the Niners on top.

While the did come back let's not forget they allowed 44 to the Chiefs who by any measure is not as good as the Patriots offense

This is a pretty rough divisional round to call. That said, my predictions are Seahawks vs. 49ers and Patriots vs. Chargers next week. I dunno. The Chargers are red-hot and Peyton is... Peyton. It'd be nice to see the Broncos win it all, but for some reason I feel like San Diego has their number.

I'll say that if we don't get to the Super Bowl this year, we're not going to for a very, very, VERY long time. As I said, we have the most talented roster in football and all the pieces are in place, so if it's not this year I don't foresee it happening for maybe another 10-20 years.
Obviously I can't predict the future, but this is the best the Broncos have been since the late 90's, so if it's not now I don't know when it is.

I realize that there is no way of really gauging 'most talented roster in football' and it's entirely subjective, but I'd say that SF, Carolina and Seattle are all more complete teams than Denver. Denver has an awesome offense with lots of weapons, but their defense can't stop anyone.

That's fair; those teams are probably more complete then Denver, but pound for pound I think we have the best offense in the game. I feel that our defense has some great names on it, but it'd be nice if they could play as great as the names dictate they should be.

We've got a lot of contracts coming due this offseason and cannot come close to bringing back 1/3 of them. Throw in having to get some help on defense and next season will be almost a rebuilding year. Now granted having 18 under center will help greatly but I don't know he can help that much.

I feel that our defense has some great names on it, but it'd be nice if they could play as great as the names dictate they should be. Pound for pound, Peyton Manning is the best quarterback in NFL history. Besides him, there's very little that makes them a very good team. Their receiving corps is probably the best in the NFL, with San Francisco in a very close second place. The Praetorian is one of the best kickers in the league. Their offensive line allows very few sacks, but this is (A) Peyton's excellent audibles, and (B) The max protect working because of a receiver being open almost as soon as the ball is snapped. Their run game is laughable. Their special teams is mediocre. Their defense is horrendous. Basically all you have to do to beat Denver is: 1. Bump and run pass defense 2. Bring the house 3. Don't play the run 4. Throw deep Denver's gotten many easy wins because teams don't make adjustments in awe of Peyton Manning. Yet the Max Protect he runs is very timing based, and vulnerable to guys getting knocked off their routes. If it takes even 1 or 2 seconds longer than usual, he's going to get hit just as much as Ryan Tannehill. There's so many instances of a pass rush just missing Manning before he can throw to a receiver. Get a few good hits in on him and he gets irritated, and will throw the odd interception. Then you go for the jugular by bringing even more pressure with the express intention of hitting him more. Meanwhile, deep passing will do a lot of good. Exactly why I think that the Seahawks or 49ers meeting with Denver in the Super Bowl is going to be a shockingly one-sided game.

The Patriots have responded to Indianapolis' acquisition of Deion Branch by scouring every drug den and gang hangout in north Philadelphia in an effort to find and sign Marvin Harrison.

I hope Buffalo makes a run at Miles Austin. Can be a decent alternative on our increasingly potentially above-average offense.

It's subjective, but I don't think Denver is the most talented roster in football. They have one of the 5 best QBs ever throwing to a diverse and super talented receiving corp, a solid but unspectacular run game and a suspect defense. That being said as long as Peyton is the QB Denver is at least going to be in contention for the Super Bowl.
