Besides, I think tonight does more to validate this thread than invalidate it. I agree with that after seeing tonight's Raw . But it also validates how stubborn and stupid WWE is. I still hold out hope that Bryan gets into the Rumble and wins, but if he's not even in it, I have no idea what WWE is thinking and have very little interest in where they're going. Who could possibly care about an Evolution circle jerk in 2014?

I decided to quote that guarantee I made earlier in the thread, just as a reminder to myself.

Bryan will win. Choosing anybody else would be moronic, plain and simple. He's the guy the fans want in the main event at Mania, no question about it.
Punk will be there at the end. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Punk usurps Rey's iron man record. Someone from The Authority will ensure he is eliminated though, building a little more heat with his inevitable showdown with HHH.
I expect Batista to get a big marquee match at Mania, probably against Orton, but I don't see the title being involved.

Since when does WWE always choose the most logical story progression based on overness?
They don't.

Since when did the WWE start caring about what their fans want? I think Batista or Sheamus will win. For me, both would be worst case scenarios and would effectively kill my interest in WWE for quite some time. Yes, Bryan is the logical choice to win and finally get the title at WM. That alone should tell you the WWE won't have him win.

It isn't as completely implausible for Bryan to still be in it as its made out to be. Surprise entrants are nothing new. Double duty is nothing new. Even in combination, it's happened before, with various title match losers from earlier in the night backing up in the Rumble unannounced.
I mentioned it in the Royal Rumble thread... Always expect anything when it comes to Bryan.

Look, I'd love nothing more than to see Bryan win the Rumble. But if some are guys are seriously expecting that.....let's just say, I wouldn't get my hopes up. It's possible but pretty damn unlikely.

Since when did the WWE start caring about what their fans want? They don't, but the fans have been more vocal than usual over Bryan than they have been about anything before. Imagine Orton vs. Batista at Mania for the title, and 75,000 people chanting for Bryan. Think of how smark-heavy Mania crowds are, and how over Bryan is with the casuals as well - it's not as unlikely as it sounds, and even WWE have to know that.

I certainly hope you're right, but I honestly think the WWE 'powers that be' believe that Orton/Batista is the better match. Again, I hope I'm wrong, but I'll be shocked if Orton/Batista or Orton/Sheamus doesn't headline WM XXX.

I can't believe how many think Bryan is going to win the Rumble this year. I give posters here too much credit. Because it's the most logical outcome from a business and story line sense. Batista will return, eliminate some huge hoss jobbers like Khali and Henry or whatever, be in the final 4 or 3 and get eliminated by someone they are setting up a program with. Bryan will win. I can't believe how many think Bryan is going to win the Rumble this year. I give posters here too much credit. Yeah it's insane to think a guy who's been a consistent main eventer and closed out Raw over the past few months wouldn't win the Rumble. It's stupid to even think that the most over guy on the roster, who closed out Raw last night having the ENTIRE ARENA chanting with him, and whose entire storyline for months has been "This guy deserves to be champ but can't get a fair match" might possibly win a match that guarantees him a title shot. Seems as though Bryan won't be in the Rumble match. ...

Don't mind either man winning, with Bats, you could push that he came back after 4 years, for the title(that coming Sunday). Punk has that dream to main event Mania, and with Cena not fighting Rock, he actually has a shot this year.
Despite that, Bryan makes far more sense, considering he has damn near everyone behind him, and it all started with Orton calling him a weak link. Problem is that they'd have to build up Orton, since they f***ed him over during the autumn.

I'd be surprised if he made it out of the Rumble as champion, and I certainly don't think he should be anywhere near the title match at Mania. Regardless of whoever wins the Rumble I think the best thing to do is have Lesnar walk out of Elimination Chamber with the title. I think it's inevitable he'll get the strap at some point, and with his limited availability it might as well be leading into Mania where they can make really big money off him being champ.

So, we have a returning Batista, who hasn't forgotten his cheat code.
We have a world champion who exists in Orton.
We have an Authority figure that is clashing with said world champion and still has a massive ego problem, both kayfabe and reality.
And we have a PPV that theoretically is the most important of the year.
If Wrestlemania doesn't become an Evolution reunion triple threat, I'll eat my hat.
