I just came across The Willies (1990), a horror movie aimed at kids. I completely forgot it existed! Great for a nostalgia kick, a tongue in cheek Goonies reference, watching a poodle explode and seeing Donkey Lips from Salute Your Shorts in a whole new light.

I really like 'The Uninvited' from 1944, which has nothing to do with the 2009 movie of the same name. It just got its first dvd release in October of last year, and it seems like only hardcore classic horror fans know about it. Its not the best movie ever, but it has probably the single best closing line outside of Some Like It Hot. I just found the dvd while typing this so I'm ordering one now! Haven't seen this since a random TCM showing.

It's shot on digital video but I think the movie Twisted Sisters is a lot of fun. It's kind of like that Treehouse of Horror where Bart had an evil identical twin that was kept hidden.

Xtro. Not for the faint of heart, but it has some amazing physical effects, along with some genuinely creepy scenes. The name makes it sound like schlock, but it is really damn good.

I know I mention this one entirely too much, but Norai The Curse is what happens when the pseudo documentary/ found footage genre is done right. Very disturbing and atmospheric.

I haven't watched it since I was little but it's basically the first horror movie I remember. The Gate.

Dead Start. It's an Indy film that has limited distribution.
It's pretty good and you can see a zombified version of me get his head cut off.

Oh, another more modern one i like is from the 80's. 'Dead and Buried' is a very slow film, but good. Cult following, but nothing massive.

Evil Toons
Early 90s low budget horror/comedy. Sadly the DVD is out of print. And the VHS was never easy to find.

Eyes without a Face, the original Cat People, I Walked with A Zombie, and the original The Haunting. Those are more atmospheric than scary, though they have their moments.

Nightmares in a damaged brain
A great 80s slasher that was on the UK video Nasty list. Sadly it is another where the DVD and VHS are hard to come by.

Basket Case
Made by the guy that did Brain Damage. A great slice of early 80s NYC sleaze.

There's a strange little horror film that always seems to show up in those multi-DVD horror packs called "Messiah of Evil"... The main actress is just OK, but the male lead is great, coming across like a soft-core porn version of the Doctor, complete with sexy companions. Very creepy story with some intense scenes (especially the movie theater scene). Ending is a bit of a letdown (probably because of budget) but an interesting trip there.
