It's like he didn't know there was a camera running or something...

Great promo, I think it'll lead somewhere, Dolph has what it takes to be the next Punk, he does deserve so much more, change his style a bit in the ring or whatevs, for safety reasons, but the guy is incredible

I feel like I've heard this promo before, a bunch of times. I love Ziggler but the gimmick is wearing a bit thin for me now.

And when you have in mind that wrestling is the 5th best thing he does... how awesome must Dolph Ziggler be?

I remember when he dumped Vickie he got a massive pop and had this awesome aura about him. I would have pushed him to the moon there are then. Then he dumped AJ and got even MORE over. The guy just gets it, he's superb in the ring, superb on the mic and really is the complete package.
That said the interviewer should have said "They gave you a chance. You lost." If Dolph could have related that promo to kayfabe it would have been awesome.

It is part of the Punk work, ever week another superstar will get disgruntled and quit. A systematic walk out.

I don't even like watching Dolph wrestle anymore because it seems like he's always one bump away from yet another concussion. It's uncomfortable. But it's not like any of his concussions came from the way he bumps. He may look reckless, but the fact that he hasn't gotten a serious injury from doing them must mean he knows what he's doing.

I know this will draw eyerolls from a lot of people, but I'm still convinced that he'd be very good in the Flair role. That's not at all to say he's Ric Flair, but I think he can do the same types of things. By that I mean hold the title as a heel, make the babyfaces look amazing every week with great matches, then escape with the belt by the skin of his teeth thanks to BS and/or luck. Then he walks around with the cocky attitude saying that he's amazing and no one can touch him, etc. But since that isn't going to happen, I'll settle for him just being on TV and doing something interesting. That doesn't mean he has to win all the time or be the top guy, but like, give the guy SOMETHING to work with. He's way too good to just go out and have pointless undercard matches every week that lead absolutely no where. No way man, Triple H already perfected that role in 2003! Dolph can also forget about trying to be Harley Race/Lemmy from Motorhead.

I read some of the reactions (that he lost cleanly, why is he whining about how good he is?), and then watched the vid. I want to interject, for that particular point, that he had a nicely vague line there about "I'm pulled aside and told not to be so good." Ie, in kayfabe, he may be implying that he's being pressured by upper management to take a dive. Ie, he doesn't have to be interpreted as talking about straight-up pro wrestling booking... he could be interpreted as discussing fixing of otherwise legit matches, and that he's being pressured to do so in order to keep his job when he believes he could beat anybody out there if he was allowed to work to his full potential.
Your mileage may vary, but that works for me within the kayfabe/in-show context that they've currently established, where we do talk about management and their preferences quite a bit.

Technically he could be talking about being forced into dives by management, but that hasn't really been presented as a plot point on WWE TV as of yet, so breaking the fourth wall is all I'm left with to consider. Overall, I didn't like it. Dolph is in this weird spot where he wrestles like a firey babyface really well, but promo and performance wise he's way better as a snarky jerk. This sounds like the kind of interview Samoa Joe would cut, it doesn't sound convincing coming out of Ziggles. Contrast this with the goofy stuff he posts on Twitter and those great gimmick matches he had with Sandow, and I get the vibe of a guy trying to be something he isn't. So yeah, give me Fun Dolph.

Dolph can't cut a promo to save his life.
That was awful.
But everyone will laude it as a great promo because its a worked shoot.
Austins ECW promo this is not.

Not trying to start anything but, I couldn't help but notice that it's mostly the Anti IWCers knocking Ziggler's promo.
Soooo......yeah.
