Hated this more than any other last night. It was clear what the intention was. Get Randy out there to do the whole "these fans hate you, Dave" to try and get the "boo, you're more of a heel we now love him" reaction, then the whole thing where Batista said "I LOVE THIS BUSINESS" - that I cringed so hard at I think I lost several inches of spinal column; and Batista insisting that he loves that fans have a voice...
It was so painful and yet so transparent it deserved to get crapped on. It was such a cheap trick it was similar to having him come down with a giant US flag and hug children at ringside.

That's what you get when the fans violently reject what you're giving them.
Him screaming "DEAL WITH IT!!!" isn't winning him any fans and everyone knows he doesn't love this business at all. Maybe the cash and Divas, but not wrestling or he'd have bothered to get in ring shape before coming back.

His crying face during his entrance was photoshop worthy.

Batista coming back after leaving to go do MMA and star in movies and trying to do the "I love this business!" schtick that the Rock did, when I think most fans see him as more of a Brock Lesnar "I like money" character who doesn't also have that "I am an avatar of destruction!" aura, combined with him coming back and throwing a douche-shaped monkey wrench into the Daniel Bryan hype train, is definitely not helping. Really, instead of trying to paint him as the returning baby face, they should have gone with a delusional, "Hollywood Rock" lite heel character from the start, instead of scrambling to make him a heel now that the fans have pretty much turned him heel by booing the shit out of him.
I mean, I can at least buy that Cena loves this business and is tolerant of a section of the fans not liking him. Batista even attempting that is funny as hell.

I agree completely. That " I love this business" line was brutal, it throughly deserved to be booed.
The promo seemed totally designed to keep him babyface but everything else he did in terms of mannerisms and the way he spoke screamed heel. It's almost like he's been scripted to stay face but his natural bitchy thin skinned self is evident too.
He said something about booing those that boo him and cheering those that cheer him but honestly who is cheering him? Cena gets mixed reactions hence the Lets Go Cena/Cena Sucks chants but Batista is seemingly getting almost 100% heat. He's not getting mixed reactions, he's the biggest heel.
Has any reasonably big star ever returned crappier than this?

He cheers the four simpletons with "Batista Bomb" signs in the crowd.

There was that time Kevin Nash tore his quad in his first match back from an injury, but even that probably went better than Batista's run is doing. That being said, yeah. I don't know what the intention of that promo was, I get the sense it was supposed to be a Cena-ish promo but between Batista's delivery and possibly screwing up some lines (would it surprise you?) he came off like he'd just turned heel.

See if his gimmick was the "deal with it" guy who just looked so cool as to genuinely not give a shit - I think, eventually, the crowd would be converted. But the whole "please love me" stuff that goes along with it with his sad face, really doesn't work.

Add to that that he was clearly very blown up after a nothing match where the most taxing thing he did was very fakely get knocked off the apron, is it any wonder he got booed to the moon? I was half expecting Del Rio to stiff-kick him in the head when he was on hands and knees... come to think of it, maybe that's why he grazed Batista's head rather than missing it completely...

It's a shame for Batista it has come to this. When he left he was on fire as Douche Tista and most of this forum loved the character. But now he has come back and that has been tainted. Bringing him back wasn't a bad idea, he is a star no doubt why wouldn't WWE want him back? But his booking has been absolutely horrendous.

He's made fans cheer for both Del Rio and Orton, are we sure they didn't bring him back to renew fans interest in those that they already had?

He loves the business so much that he left for four years, and despite being the Rumble winner he still only makes sporadic appearances on Raw.
How on earth are the fans supposed to cheer that when it's so painfully obvious he'll leave after Wrestlemania? The fans have learnt their lesson from trusting the Rock.

The Rock has a pretty good excuse. "I LOVE THIS BUSINESS...so much that I take time out of my absurdly busy schedule to come back and do it, even though it's caused me to be seriously injured and there's literally NO possible way WWE could be paying me what my time is worth". Was Batista REALLY so busy with his one MMA fight and film projects? Not to take anything away from him, but you can't compare Batista (who, admittedly, DID try some new stuff while out of the WWE) and the Rock (arguably the biggest action movie star in the world).
