i sure wish in my job I could just randomly take 6 weeks off because i was frustarted and then come back around the biggest payday and all is right with the world. I wish I could, too. Maybe Punk's not so dumb.

You said one thing that is right - it's his job. That's all. If he wasn't satisfied with his job, he had every right to walk away and not do it any more.
In all this the only "big babies" are the fans who've gotten butthurt that he's not around.

Dude's an independent contractor, he can do what he wants. Whether ya agree with the way he went about it or not is immaterial, he's not locked into anything job wise.
That's WWE's fault for keeping these guys contracted the way they do.

Honestly, I'd have to imagine that if it were a work, then they'd have mentioned it. ...but if they mentioned it, then everyone would know it was a work, which would completely undo the entire point of trying to work people with it.

That assumes WWE really cares about getting one over on the fans. They don't. Besides that, Austin and Savage weren't works and they mentioned them walking out.

The "WWE Universe" wasn't a thing, then. It's not about getting over one over on their fans, it's about updating the carny mentality to the modern day. Even the densest mark knows perfectly well the matches are fake, but CM Punk not getting respected by the boss! or Dolph Ziggler not being pushed enough!... that stuff's REAL, man! So they're using it to work people. It's the same old schtick, just pretending the pushes are real instead of the matches. They know perfectly well that one big way to get buzz around the WWE is to have internet nerds in a frothing rage on the internet and in their live audiences. They hope the enthusiasm (and the enthusastic hate) will be loud enough for mainstream attention. So for Punk to leave (and it's REAL you guys!!) gets attention around Wrestlemania season... and when he comes back, and a previously rebellious crowd starts lapping up what the WWE is giving them... that's a sellable moment.

If by "= big baby" you mean "finally wising up" then yeah.
How many times can you see guys leave & come back to more fan fare and attention by far than anyone working day in day out before you go, "f*** this. Time for a break, then a huge return where I'll be treated way WAY better than if I never left at all"

The WWE Universe doesn't really mean anything. I just don't buy that they're that meta to try that route, especially not that we're only a few years removed from the last Punk walk out that was the major company storyline (when the WWE was in existence). Not that much has changed since then, and it just seems way out of character to try something that, well, I don't know if subtle is the right word, but it would be a complete 180 from the way they've done everything. They don't really update unless they're dragged into it, I don't see why they would now. Meanwhile, if it is real and you were trying to get him to come back, you wouldn't mention that he left because you don't want to piss him off. It's the simpler explanation, and the simpler explanation is usually the correct one.

the more this drags out, the more I'm torn on this.
If Punk left because he is burnt out that's fine and understandable IF Punk left because he is frustrated that's fine........... IF HE DOESN'T COME BACK If he comes back and inserted into the main event to please him, he comes across as a hypocrite
Of course, all the above can be null and void if it was all a work

If Punk comes back I want him to be taken down a few pegs and humbled. For what? Being burnt out and Wanting time off? I know You want people like Zack Ryder to win for once, but hell freezes over before that happens.

But walking out on the company on short notice right before RAW is wrong. Punk should serve some kind of penance for the way he handled his frustrations. Plus it wouldn't be right for him to just come back and take a main event spot because then he'd be no different from Batista.

I agree with the OP. This isn't the first time either that Punks thrown his toys out of the pram when he doesn't get his own way.
Edit: If he left because he's just exhausted, burnt out, tired, injured etc and NOT because he was throwing a temper tantrum because he wasn't getting pushed "right" or having the match he wanted at 'Mania then I sympathise.

Its dumb, fact is its his job, we all get frustarted at it, and to whomever posted about people being gone and returning to become even more popular, that rarely happens (cough Batista, cough Edge, Christian,) in most cases though the guys have been gone years, not weeks...and its ususally due to injury or some other problems, again i dont know what was happening but the fact is, thats his job, if hes that made or frustrated then leave! The days of 1 guy leaving and the ratings going down are over, same as if one guy was to return from a long absense and come out, after a few weeks the ratings would be right where they were........hes a baby

After that ending I don't blame Punk. He's an independent contractor who's made his money. Why should he have to put up with crazy old man Vince and the ego twins?

Chicago sucks. Also Punk should work his way back to where he was.

Chicago sucks. Also Punk should work his way back to where he was. This falls apart when you consider the fact Batista has literally strolled back into WWE and gotten a Wrestlemania Main Event match, with minimal effort. Where was his working back up to his old spot after being gone?

exactly, and im sure Punk has money saved but eventually itll run out, the ball is really in the WWE courts, wheres he going to got TNA? maybe that would get them a 1.1 rating for a month at best. Japan?, im sure at this point Punk wouldnt like the idea of going overseas, fact is im sure if he really wanted to ( which he wont) he could take a few years off and come back but his options are really limitied as far as making money, Hell come back and in 12-15 months hell be "burnt out" again and well be right here, its getting old )
