It's weird reading a lot of these posts and then seeing people insist that Punk is some sort of martyr around here. I think it's because those that love him, REALLY love him, to-the-ends-of-the-earth style. Hence the theme "Cult of Personality". While those who don't like him just don't get how anybody could be that dedicated/devoted to a wrestler. There are very few people (they exist, but they're rare) who could just take him or leave him. I don't believe it's that rare in all honesty, even in this thread people semi-defending Punk leaving like me have said in our opening posts "well yeah, he was crap for half of 2013 as the stories sucked all manner of poison ivy. He didn't matter and wasn't going to matter in the build up to 'Mania."

It's weird reading a lot of these posts and then seeing people insist that Punk is some sort of martyr around here. I think it's like... there was a time in 2009/2010, where CM Punk was that universally beloved rarely criticized figure. And for some people that's just a moment in time that's been held as an eternal fact, even though things have changed quite a bit, and there isn't nearly as much like flagrant adoration of the man anymore.

I'm CM Punk wahhh I can't be in The Main Event of WrestleMania. Let me go bang all your diva dream girls then kick them to the curb. Honestly yeah used to like the guy but he's a real douche. Go step on a straight edge knife. I'm CM Punk. I don't take any drugs at all and suffer from insomnia which combined with my gruelling schedule makes me look cracked out all the time the company I work for hasn't told me yet if I'll even get my bonus for the biggest show of the year which I count on as my biggest payday of the year. If I walk out it will cause all the fanbase to start chanting for me which will give me negotiating power and put the ball in my court as the company will need me more than I need them. Plus it will give me time to improve my mood and health and not look like I am on day 4 of a meth binge all the time Yeah, it's really disappointing to see fans who think seeing Punk on tv is more important than his physical and mental health. A very selfish attitude.

I'm fine with him gone, Raw doesn't seem much different anyway. It really doesn't. He'd done so much boring filler crap in 2013 that his absence hasn't even left an impact. It's much like when Sheamus went out with his injury last year and people immediately forgot he was missing.

A Hogan, Austin, Rock, or hell even Cena that douche will never be. You never Main Evented WrestleMania because frankly more people pay to see Rock and Cena instead of some crybaby drippy wet rag.

It's weird reading a lot of these posts and then seeing people insist that Punk is some sort of martyr around here. "HE WAS FORCED OUT OF THE COMPANY BY TRIPLE H! HE WALKED OUT BECASUE BYRAN DIDN'T WIN THE RUMBLE. HE'S BEING HELD DOWN BY TRIPLE H!" Basically is what's the main focus for the people who are trying to justify him leaving. Seriously, he left and it's not a big loss. He's hardly missed except for the few internet nerds who pump their chest as they chant his name, like that'll make the McMahon's angry or something. I just shook my head when the fans started chanting CM Punk during the segment on RAW. It doesn't make sense, what's chanting his name going to do? He's gone, an it's all his own doing. CM Punk is not in WWE right now because of CM Punk. Not Vince, not Triple H, not Stephanie, not Batista, not Cena.

He legitimately left BECAUSE he was in nothing but boring second-rate angles and the company really wasn't using him. Bryan leapfrogged him, and because Bryan leapfrogged him, creative really didn't have anything to do with him. I mean seriously, they were going to book him against Kane. Kane.
Kane, man.
If I was him? I'd take some time off too. I'm beating myself to shit, and the product doesn't really need me right now. Let me go cool my jets until it does.
Now, he was a little smug prick about it, granted, but it honestly seems like it was what was best for him and the company at the time. He was just going to be a dick on tv anyways until he strongarmed his way, maybe even costing Bryan his opportunity to be on top or something.

I haven't found him entertaining at all since early into his long-ass title run and he was seriously phoning it in these past few months so I think it's for the best that he's gone. Maybe he won't stink up the joint when he comes back.

The only pro-Punk posts I've seen here are people saying we should calm down because we don't know the details, which is fair. I've seen some pretty venomous anti-Punk posts (someone wishing he stood on a straight edge razor being a highlight), but I aint cherry picking those to make some kind of point.

People seem to forget that Randy Orton had to wrestle Kane at Wrestlemania. Orton even lost his match with Kane. The next year Orton was in a meaningless six-man match and lost again. This year he is in the main event. If you are not John Cena than you are going to be on the backburner for a while until you get your main event push again. Orton stuck with the WWE even if he was depushed and was rewarded for it.

Kind of weird how in 2006, almost everyone loved Punk, but now many people don't really like him at all.
Point is, nobody's immune to bad booking or bad decision-making. I highly doubt Bryan's immune either, but I don't see him doing anything to compromise his popularity with fans.

I honestly think Bryan would be happy just wrestling for the WWE, even if he was in a 3MB comedy like role. I know he loves wrestling and everything, but he's never come off as a "THIS BUSINESS" type who is insecure about his spot or playing the backstage politics game or rocking the boat. Just a simple, humble guy. Hell even when he was dancing with the Divas and losing to Sin Cara on Superstars, I never heard anything about him having heat for whining or anything like that.

With CM Punk it's like it was just a matter of a certain level of exposure over a certain amount of time, and there'd be a point where lots of people would become sick of him because he is a smartass and he is outspoken and he doesn't have a lot of tact. I'd say in these ways he's an exception among most of the guys in WWE, who don't usually like speak out about stuff the way he does, or project the same kind of attitude.
